Nissan announced and shared pre-production photos of the new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek edition, saying its expected release is Summer 2022. The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder base and other trims should also hit the roads in the third quarter of 2022, as Nissan’s site shows ordering for 2022 models. The 2023 Pathfinder will be available at Nissan dealerships throughout the United States, as well as in select international markets.

The starting price of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder ranges from $35,000 MSRP for the S trim up to $47,970 MSRP for the Platinum trim. Also, the 2023 Pathfinder costs slightly more than the 2022 Pathfinder, which has a starting base price of $34,640 MSRP.

The standard engine in the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which generates 284 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque. For the Pathfinder Rock Creek trim, the output of the V-6 engine gets boosted to 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. For all Pathfinder models, Nissan ditched the continuously variable transmission (CVT) from the 2022 Pathfinder in favor of a nine-speed automatic transmission. 

On the efficiency front, the Pathfinder gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 21 city/27 highway mpg. On the towing front, the Pathfinder has a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.

Unique features in the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek

The biggest addition for the 2023 Pathfinder is the return of the rugged and adventure-focused Rock Creek trim. Along with a more powerful engine, the Pathfinder Rock Creek has features for enhancing off-road capabilities and utility. This includes:

• Off-road tuned suspension with 5/8-inch lift
• Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode
• Tubular roof rack with up to a 220-pound load capacity
• 18-inch beadlock-style wheels mounted with all-terrain tires

Also, the Pathfinder Rock Creek has unique design features that make it stand out from the rest of the Pathfinder lineup. This includes:

• Rock Creek badging
• Exclusive front fascia with a dark V-motion grille and a mesh insert
• Orange contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats, center console, instrument panel, and door panels
• Exclusive leatherette + fabric seats with Rock Creek embroidery

Nissan didn’t yet reveal the specific color options for the 2023 Pathfinder. However, the automaker stated that the Pathfinder Rock Creek trim “will be available in six mono-tone exterior colors and four two-tone exterior combinations.”

Interior features and technologies in the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Beyond the Rock Creek trim and the new transmission, the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is predominantly a carryover model. It will likely offer a similar roster of interior features and technologies as the 2022 Pathfinder. This includes an infotainment system with either an 8” or 9” touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a WiFi hotspot, heated and cooled seats, and a panoramic sunroof. The Pathfinder can seat up to eight passengers and has a maximum cargo capacity of 80.5 cu-ft.
