2023 Porsche Macan EV: Overview and Expected Range
Like many other automakers, Porsche has big plans for electric vehicles. Following the enormous success of the Taycan electric sports sedan, Porsche will electrify the Macan compact SUV. Find out what we know so far about the release date, price, and specs of the 2023 Porsche Macan EV.
When will the 2023 Porsche Macan EV be available?
The 2023 Porsche Macan EV will likely be available in late 2022 or early 2023. The Macan EV will be available to buy at Porsche dealerships throughout the United States and in select international markets.
How much does the 2023 Porsche Macan EV cost?
Porsche did not yet release the official price information for the 2023 Macan EV. However, Car and Driver estimates that the 2023 Macan EV will cost $80,000 for a Base trim, $90,000 for an S trim, and $100,000 for a GTS trim. These prices make the 2023 Macan EV slightly cheaper than the 2022 Taycan, which has a starting price of $82,700.
While not confirmed by Porsche, the Macan EV trims, as indicated by Car and Driver, are the same as the ones for the gas-powered 2022 Macan. The prices for the 2022 Macan are $54,900 for the S trim, $65,400 for the S trim, and $79,900 for the GTS trim.
2023 Porsche Macan EV specs: Driving range, battery, and charging
We don’t yet know much about the electric powertrain in the 2023 Macan EV. However, Porsche claims that the Macan EV will have a much higher driving range than the Taycan, which has an estimated range of up to 227 miles.
Like the Taycan, the Macan will offer two battery sizes. Most American buyers of the Taycan chose the larger battery, so it’s possible that only the larger battery will be available in the United States. With the likely 800-volt architecture (the same as the Taycan), the Macan EV will probably provide fast-charging capabilities of up to 270 kilowatts.
2023 Porsche Macan EV design: What does it look like?
Various outlets took spy shots of the Macan EV during testing. Its body has a similar overall shape as the gas-powered Macan, but it differs for the front and rear. The Macan EV appears to borrow styling cues from the Taycan, particularly for the headlights. It also has a retractable spoiler behind the rear window.
In 2021, the Macan was the best-selling Porsche model in the U.S., while the Taycan was second only to the 911 as the best-selling non-SUV Porsche model. With this in mind, it makes sense why the next electric model that Porsche will release is the Macan EV. Initially, Porsche will sell the Macan EV alongside the gas-powered Macan, but eventually, it will replace it.
