Congratulate the 2023 Ram 1500 for having the highest score out of every other full-size ruck on the J.D.Power Initial Quality Study again. It has been the first-place option for years, and the 2023 Ford F-150 and 2023 Toyota Tundra have some catching up to do.

The Ram 1500 is the highest-ranking light-duty pickup truck on the list, while the 2023 Nissan Titan surprises us all in second place. The 2023 GMC Sierra rounds out the group in third place. Ram also secured the largest improvement year over year.

Also, the study is based on feedback from actual vehicle owners. A survey was sent out to 93,380 new vehicle owners and lessees with 223 questions. Every aspect of the vehicle is covered, from the engine to the electronics, allowing people to report issues.

This serves as a way to show manufacturers where the most significant issues occur so they can make improvements. Common problems involve the infotainment system, displays, and weakening charging pads.

Brands are ranked by the fewest problems per 200 vehicles. A lower score is better, and Ram is near the top with 141. Toyota rings in with 191, and Ford follows suit with 201.

Is the Ram 1500 the most reliable truck?

The 2023 Ram 1500 is considered to be the most reliable full-size truck. It outranks the Toyota Tundra and the Ford F-150 again, according to Consumer Reports. However, the 2023 Ram truck doesn’t have an official ranking from J.D.Power yet.

According to Repair Pal and other sources, the Ram 1500 has a reliability score of 3.5 out of 5.0, which is considered above average. The 2023 Tundra is facing its fair share of problems, with a J.D.Power score of 70 out of 100.

This puts the Tundra in the average reliability category, and it’s only one point away from being considered below average. The 2023 F-150 has a score of 86 out of 100, which is great. This puts the F-150 in the above-average category.

Expect the average Ram 1500 model to last between 250,000 to 300,000 miles on the road. This truck should reach at least 200,000 miles before experiencing more severe issues. It can also provide 17 to 20 years of service on the road.

The 2024 Ram 1500 is worth waiting for if you want to access a new style and modern tech updates. The 2024 model could receive a mid-cycle refresh to spice things up and keep it competitive.

However, trucks usually don’t receive engine upgrades or suspension changes during a mid-cycle refresh. So the 2024 model should have the same powertrain options and will have the same body.

This means that its high quality and durable reputation should carry over. Although, the Ram 1500 might not receive any changes until 2025. The 2024 Ford F-150 is also getting a mid-cycle refresh, but the 2024 Toyota Tundra is expected to be a carryover model.

Stay tuned for more updates about the Ram 1500. The new tech will build upon the reliable features that it already flexes.
