What to expect with the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel 

Big changes are on the way because spy shots just captured what could be the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel being put to work. As the entire Ram 2500 line up receives a mid-cycle refresh, the new Rebel trim could be added to the lineup. 

The truck won’t look much different. However, it does have a new sports performance hood that’s been hidden under camouflage. The Ram 2500 could gain new LED lights, a revised headlight design, and an updated grille. 

Reportedly, the Rebel will tackle the Ford Tremor while the Power Wagon falls short. But the Rebel will be more affordable than the Power Wagon while featuring plenty of power and off-roading upgrades. 

How much power does the 2500 Rebel have? 

The 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel comes standard with the 6.8-liter HEMI V8 engine with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 6.7-liter V6 Cummins turbo diesel engine for 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. 

When properly equipped, the Ram 2500 can tow up to 20,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 4,010 lbs. The diesel engine features the best-in-class fuel economy with an EPA-estimated 13 mpg in the city and up to 18 mpg on the highway. 

The Power Wagon has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 8,565, while the Rebel has a GWRV of 10,000 lbs. This could mean that the Rebel will have a higher payload rating. 

Reportedly, the unique Ram 2500 Rebel setup could include an auto-leveling rear suspension and an electronically locking rear differential. 

But the Power Wagon features a locking differential in the front and a winch. However, that’s a fair trade-off. The Rebel will be more affordable and more powerful. 

Also, the Ram Rebel HD may feature 18-inch black diamond-cut aluminum wheels and an adaptive steering system. 

How much does the 2500 Rebel cost? 

The 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel could start around $50,000. The Regular Ram 2500 starts at about $42,775, and the Power Wagon increases the price to about $62,615. 

We’re pretty excited about the Rebel’s towing upgrades, such as more camera views, towing mirrors with LED puddle lights, hands-free trailer backup assistance, a camera view that’s behind the trailer, and the invisible trailer feature to make it seem invisible on the infotainment system. 

A new digital gauge cluster will provide crucial information about towing and off-roading, and it can easily be customized. Plus, a new 12.3-inch vertically oriented touchscreen display spices things up.
