2023 Ascent specs: Engine output, gas mileage, and towing

All 2023 Subaru Ascent models have a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the turbo engine generates 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Also, the Ascent has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

For all-weather driving and off-road capabilities, the 2023 Ascent has the standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. All Ascent trims also have hill descent control and active torque vectoring features. Plus, the off-road capabilities for the Ascent are aided by its 8.7 inches of ground clearance, which is higher than most SUV models.

Bold new design for the 2023 Ascent

The 2023 Ascent has a bold new design for the front end. Notable design changes include a more prominent grille, a more aggressive front bumper cover, and restyled LED headlights. Plus, the “new front bumper cover features new lower-edge air ducts to improve aerodynamic flow” under the SUV. Additionally, at the back end, the Ascent features redesigned Konoji (C-shaped) taillights.

All Ascent models now come standard with an 11.6-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Also, for enhanced safety and convenience, the Ascent features the latest version of the EyeSight suite of driving assistance technologies. Additionally, the SUV offers a new surround-view camera with a 360-degree overhead view.
