2023 Subaru Forester SUV: 3 Things to Like and 1 to Improve
With all the changes in the world, improvements on a Subaru SUV are always welcome. However, the 2023 Subaru Forester doesn’t offer many changes over the previous year. Here are three things to like about the newest Forester sport utility vehicle and one thing Subaru could have done better.
The 2023 Subaru Forester price is up about $500 on each trim level
Upon revealing the 2023 Subaru Forester, a few changes exist to report. The good news is that the Forester didn’t really need any changes. This year, the 2023 Subaru Forester starts at $26,395, or $27,620, with destination and delivery charges. The top Touring trim will run buyers $37,720 with the destination and delivery charges.
Trim | Transmission | MSRP | MSRP + Destination & Delivery ($1,225) |
Forester | CVT | $26,395 | $27,620 |
Forester Premium | CVT | $29,395 | $30,620 |
Forester Sport | CVT | $30,965 | $32,190 |
Forester Wilderness | CVT | $34,020 | $35,245 |
Forester Limited | CVT | $33,075 | $34,300 |
Forester Touring | CVT | $36,495 | $37,720 |
Subaru will also offer the Forester in six trim levels when it hits the market. These trim levels are Base, Premium, Sport, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring. While a price increase is never a good thing, a $500 increase is far less than some competition raising prices. That is both a thing to like and a thing to improve upon for the 2023 Forester.
Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is standard on the 2023 Forester
Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is back and better than ever. Models with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Keep Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert will also get Automatic Emergency Steering. By using EyeSight and Blind-Spot Detection, the 2023 Subaru Forester can help avoid collisions when going under 50 mph.
The automaker says that 2023 vehicles will get the latest and improved version of the software. Additionally, each 2023 Forester will come standard with seven airbags. These airbags are the driver and front passenger frontal airbags, side curtain airbags, side pelvis/torso airbags, and driver’s knee airbags. Safety has always been a big deal for Subaru, and the automaker didn’t skip on that this year.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has good things to report
The Subaru Forester will likely become an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Plus winner. For the last 16 consecutive years, the Forester has earned this prestigious award more than any other small SUV.
Other recent accolades include the 2022 Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Award and the 2022 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own awards. It has also been called U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best Cars for Teens. That is a good sign for the 2023 Forester.
The Forester can tow up to 1,500 pounds for whatever weekend adventures you might happen upon. And the best news of all? The 2023 Subaru Forester still has a CD player. What else do you need? Even if the SUV is primarily unchanged going into the new year, there wasn’t much wrong with it to begin with.
