Prices for SUVs keep going up, and the Subaru Outback isn’t putting a stop to this trend. Consider saving with a 2022 model before going after the 2023 Subaru Outback. Prices have increased while everything else is pretty much the same. 

How much does the 2023 Subaru Outback cost? 

The 2023 Subaru Outback price starts at $29,620. This is about $1,550 more for the base model compared to 2022. Also, the Outback Oynx Edition XT is now $3,500 more with a price of $39,280. 

One of the most significant price increases comes with the Legacy Sport. It costs $5,516 more than the 2022 model. Also, you can get the non-XT version of the Oynx Edition for $34,720, but it doesn’t come with turbo power. 

Also, the most expensive model is the Outback Touring XT which starts at $43,520. It has a $2,450 price increase. 

The Outback is slightly different than before. It received slightly revised looks, including updated headlights, a larger grille, and a more prominent front bumper. The Wilderness Edition didn’t gain any visual tweaks. 

How much power does the 2023 Outback have? 

The base engine with the 2023 Subaru Outback is a 2.5-liter Boxer Four unit with 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine for 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. 

The turbo engine is now available with the Limited XT and Touring XT trims. Also, the Oynx Edition can be paired with the standard engine. Each Outback comes with standard all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission. 

With the 2.5-liter engine, the Outback can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.7 seconds, which isn’t too exciting. With the turbo engine, the Outback can reach 60 mph in about 5.9 seconds. 

According to Car and Driver, the Outback can tow up to 2,700 lbs with the standard engine and up to 3,500 lbs with the turbocharged engine. It can tow the same amount as the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota RAV4. 

For more off-roading power, go with the Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition, which starts at $39.670. It has a 9.5-inch ground clearance, skid plates, suspension upgrades, and extra off-roading modes for Snow and Mud. 

Does the 2023 Outback have nice features? 

The 2023 Subaru Outback features a simple layout that can feel a bit plain. But it’s functional and includes high-quality materials. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, and you can spice things up with a heated steering wheel and ventilated seats. 

You get two 7.0-touchscreens with the base model, and every other trim features an 11.6-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and you can opt for a wireless charging pad and built-in navigation. 

Each camera now has a wider field of view. Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assistance. 

The price increase seems to cover the new looks and slightly enhanced cameras. Otherwise, the Outback remains the same practical family wagon with above-average off-roading capabilities as before.
