The 2023 Subaru Solterra Has a Shockingly High Price
Pricing for the highly anticipated Subaru Solterra has been revealed. If you expected the 2023 Subaru Solterra to be an affordable, entry-level electric SUV, then think again. Its starting price might be shocking.
How much does the 2023 Subaru Solterra cost?
The 2023 Subaru Solterra starts at $44,995. The 2023 Toyota bZ4X, which is the Soleterra’s twin costs 43,215. These prices are the MSRPs, so they do not include destination fees or dealership markups.
Currently, the Solterra EV is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit, and the destination fee is $1,225. It will be available at dealerships later this summer.
Also, the Solterra and bZ4X aren’t identical twins. They are fraternal. The Solterra is built with a few rugged upgrades to enhance its off-roading abilities, while the bZ4X is more of a luxurious option.
The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of their biggest competitors with a racing vibe. It starts at $43,895. But despite having a high price, the new Subaru Solterra could come with enough value to be 100 percent worth it.
What comes with the Subaru Solterra
The 2023 Subaru Solterra has standard all-wheel drive. This is an incredible perk for those who live in areas with inclement weather and for those who want to take their Solterra off the beaten track.
However, this may inconvenience those who don’t need AWD. Some may wish this feature was optional so they could save a little cheddar.
For off-roading, the Subaru Solterra has an 8.3-inch ground clearance. It also has X-Mode, which is traction software that’s been enhanced for off-roading. The system includes off-roading modes for Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud.
Standard safety features include the Subaru EyeSight driver-assist suite. It comes with pre-collision brake assistance, emergency steering assistance, intersection collision avoidance support, lane departure prevention, and dynamic radar cruise control with lane-tracing assistance.
Each model has standard Appel CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is available, but according to Edmunds, the size of the standard infotainment system hasn’t been revealed.
How much power does the 2023 Solterra have?
The 2023 Subaru Solterra has a 72.0-kWh battery pack and an electric motor on each axle to generate 215 hp and 249 lb-ft of range. The Subaru Solterra Premium, or the base model, has an estimated range of 225 miles.
With the use of a DC fast-charging station, you can replenish about 80 percent of the battery in an hour. The Ford Mustang Mach-E can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 38 minutes.
Subaru has not released the towing capacity for the Solterra. Some critics suggest that it can tow between 2,000 to 4,000 lbs. We will update this post with official figures once they arrive.
The Solterra is expected to be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds. The Toyota bZ4X can reach 60 mph in about 8.4 seconds. These times are a little slow compared to rivals.
At first glance, it seems like the Subaru Solteraa has a high starting price, but it may have plenty of value to be worth it. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel to see for ourselves.
