2023 Subaru WRX Predictions: What We Expect for Specs, Design, and Features
Fresh off a major (and I mean major) redesign for 2022, the new 2023 Subaru WRX likely won’t receive any big changes for this year. Subaru has a pretty consistent refresh cycle that they follow, and the second year in a generation is dedicated to working out any kinks that may have popped up since the release of the first year. However, new is always better—so the 2023 WRX will likely be worth it.
Will there be a 2023 Subaru WRX STI?
At this time, it’s seeming very unlikely that there will be a 2023 WRX STI. Subaru announced earlier this year that it would be killing the fifth-generation STI. Until that is, the STI could be re-imagined as something electrified.
That means we may see a Subaru WRX STI Hybrid or an all-electric WRX STI EV, but it is extremely unlikely that we’ll see one in 2023.
2023 Subaru WRX specs, changes, and updates
Don’t expect many—if any—changes to the 2023 Subaru WRX’s spec sheet. The new model should come standard with the upgraded 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It should still make an acceptable 271 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Likely, it will still boast a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds.
It’s not the best in its class, but the latest WRX isn’t about pure power alone. And it’s more powerful than many of its newer competitors, including the 2023 Acura Integra.
If you’re looking for a reliable sports car that will go the distance—and provide classic rally-car fun—the 2023 WRX might be for you.
2023 Subaru WRX interior features
We don’t expect to see major changes to the 2023 WRX interior for the new year. So, expect to see the same run of cabin features and accessories for the new year.
Kelley Blue Book had this to say about the 2022 WRX’s interior, and we imagine it will ring true for the new model year, as well:
“Depending on the trim, the new WRX can come with simulated suede upholstery, contrasting red stitching, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The GT trim’s Recaro front seats really hold their occupants tightly in place, a great choice if there are plenty of track days planned.
If it’s important, the 2022 WRX has a decent 36.5 inches of rear legroom and 12.5 cubic feet of trunk space, with 60/40 split/folding rear seats. They all help the car qualify as a practical choice as well as an entertaining one.”
A fully loaded Subaru WRX brings the Recaro seats, heated front seats, Ultrasuede seat trim, dual-zone auto climate control, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system.
When do we think the 2023 Subaru WRX will come out?
The 2022 WRX debuted relatively late last year. Because of this, Subaru may hold off and release the 2023 model year later, as well. However, since there will likely be little to no changes, the company might choose to just roll production right into 2023 by the fall.
How much do we expect the 2023 Subaru WRX to cost?
After a pretty major price hike last year, we don’t expect the 2023 WRX to see much of a price change, if at all. The below price estimates reflect the current pricing for the 2022 model:
- 2023 WRX Base: $29,605
- 2023 WRX Premium: $32,105
- 2023 WRX Limited: $36,495
- 2023 WRX GT: $42,395
There’s plenty for die-hard fans to be mad about regarding the 2022 WRX, but price shouldn’t be one of them.
