The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck and the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning are at the top of the list of things to discuss when people are talking about electric trucks. The Cybertruck isn’t here yet – it isn’t even in production – while the Lightning has already sold out its reservations and then some.

While there’s bound to be some fierce competition between these two electric trucks, the Cybertruck does have one huge advantage over its more down-to-earth counterpart – passenger capacity. Here’s why the Tesla Cybertruck vs. Ford F-150 Lightning may be a pretty easy decision for some.

The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck vs. 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning: 1 holds more people

The Tesla Cybertruck is going to hold up to six passengers according to Car and Driver. That’s more than any other electric pickup truck currently on the market or in production. On the other hand, the 2022 Ford Lightning can hold up to five passengers, according to Ford. Other leaders in the EV truck domain like the Rivian R1T and GMC Hummer electric truck can also only hold five passengers.

If you have a large family, the decision between the Cybertruck and the Ford Lightning may be an easy one. With the Cybertruck’s extra passenger capacity, the Tesla Cybertruck will be the only electric pickup truck that can hold six or more passengers.

The Tesla Cybertruck has a cool kid-friendly feature

The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck and 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will both have family-friendly features. Elon Musk has said that the Cybertruck won’t have door handles. Instead, it will know when you’re approaching and just open. This is fantastic for parents whose arms are full of things, though just how it will work remains to be seen.

In addition, the Tesla Cybertruck will have a 17-inch touchscreen in the center of its dashboard. There’s not much else in the way of information about the Cybertruck’s technology, but considering that Tesla tends to be at the forefront of technology anyway, there’s a good chance that it will have some tech that will keep your kids occupied.

The Ford Lightning is also family-friendly

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning also has some family-friendly features that may put it at the top of the list for some families (that can fit inside). For example, it comes with Ford’s suite of safety systems, called Co-Pilot. It also has a 12-inch touchscreen and the ability to add on an extended-range battery, which will make driving distances with your kids less stressful – and reduce the number of times you have to stop to charge.

Higher 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning trim levels also add on even more family-friendly features, though of course, they’ll cost you. The Ford Lightning XLT It adds on front lighting, a 360-degree camera, and an interior work surface which can double as a coloring or homework space for younger kids. The XLT price starts at $52,974.There’s also the option for an extended range battery which makes the price $72,474.
