The 2023 Toyota bZ4X Already Has Its First Recall
Whoops, that was quick. An entire fleet of Toyota bZ4X models already faces a significant recall. The 2023 Toyota bZ4X hasn’t been on the streets for very long, but now nearly every model needs to go in for maintenance.
2023 Toyota bZ4X recall alert for loose wheels
Watch out, the wheels on your 2023 Toyota bZ4X could pop off and roll away! It’s only been two months since the Toyota Motor Company launched the new full-electric bZ4X, and already has its first problem.
According to SeekingAlpha, Toyota is investigating a recall due to an issue with the bolts that may allow the tires to fall off. Toyota doesn’t know the cause of this problem and urges drivers not to use their vehicles until they can be repaired.
No injuries or accidents related to this issue have been reported. However, not very many Toyota bZ4X models are on the streets yet. This recall only includes about 2,700 vehicles, and 2,200 of them were heading to the European market.
About 220 models are in America, 110 of them are for Japan, and the remaining 80 vehicles are for the rest of Asia. Most of them haven’t been delivered to customers yet, and Toyota is only producing 7,000 units to test its first run.
What is the 2023 bZ4X?
The 2023 Toyota bZ4X is the first fully electric vehicle that Toyota is placing on the market. The bZ4X breaks down into two meanings. While bR represents the nature of electric-battery vehicles going beyond zero emissions, the 4X part stands for compact crossover SUV.
This is the first electric vehicle to emerge. Toyota has the goal of bringing 30 electric vehicles to market by 2030. Plus, Toyota intends to increase global EV sales by 3.5 million by the decade’s end.
Perhaps the Toyota bZ4X recall serves as an experiment. Once Toyota figures out the problem caused by the bolts, it can avoid making the same mistake again. Also, perhaps more quality control measures will be implemented for new options.
Anyways, the bZ4X is similar to the Toyota RAV4, and both vehicles ride on the version of the TNGA platform. The Subaru Solterra and bZ4X both use the e-TNGA platform.
The Toyota bZ4X is slightly longer than the RAV4 and has more space between the axles. This provides more passenger space and could result in a smoother ride.
How much does the bZ4X cost?
If you want to help out by buying the 2023 Toyota bZ4X, it starts at $42,000. This is the MSRP, so the destination fee and dealership markups aren’t included. All-wheel drive can be added to each model in the lineup.
With the single motor variant, you get 201 hp, 196 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA-estimated range of up to 225 miles. Ith the dual-motor setup, you get 215 hp, 249 lb-ft of torque, and up to 252 miles of range.
The front-wheel drive model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.1 seconds, while the AWD models can reach 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. Plus, the X-Mode AWD system intelligently monitors road conditions to provide optimal settings for its control and performance.
We will keep an eye on the bZ4X to see if more problems emerge, and we hope the problem with loose wheels is corrected quickly. We want to see more models on the pavement!
