The Toyota Sienna and the Chrysler Pacifica are two leading choices for the minivan segment. Both minivans have multiple strengths, such as an available all-wheel drive system and hybrid models. However, the 2023 Toyota Sienna has one big advantage over the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica: It’s more reliable.

Reliability is a crucial factor for a minivan. Higher reliability results in greater safety, performance, longevity, and fewer repairs and mechanical issues. And with fewer repairs and mechanical issues, the cost of vehicle ownership will be lower. Furthermore, the vehicle is less likely to break down and leave you stranded on the side of the road.

And on the reliability front, the 2023 Toyota Sienna is the better choice. It’s more reliable than the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. Consumer Reports recommended the Sienna — due in part to its favorable reliability scores. Also, CR ranks Toyota as the most reliable car brand. Conversely, the Pacifica is the only new minivan that’s not recommended by CR — primarily because it has so many reliability issues.

J.D. Power ranks the Sienna as more reliable too. The site gave the minivan a reliability score of 74/100, while it rated the Pacifica as only 67/100. If you place a premium on reliability, then the Sienna is the way to go.

Unlike the 2023 Pacifica, the 2023 Sienna has a complimentary maintenance plan

A key element in ensuring that a minivan is reliable is to keep it well-maintained. It’s important to follow the maintenance schedule. And this is a more affordable endeavor with the complimentary maintenance plan for the 2023 Toyota Sienna.

The ToyotaCare free maintenance plan, which is good for two years or 25,000 miles, covers factory-scheduled maintenance. This includes oil changes, multi-point inspections, tire rotations, and topping off the fluids. However, the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica doesn’t have a free maintenance plan. For the Pacifica, you have to pay for all of these services that are covered by the Sienna.

Furthermore, there are more Toyota dealerships than Chrysler dealerships. This makes it more convenient to service the Sienna for the majority of owners.

Other benefits of the Toyota Sienna over the Chrysler Pacifica

The 2023 Sienna has some other benefits over the 2023 Pacifica. This includes a higher seating capacity. The Sienna can seat up to eight passengers, compared to seven for the Pacifica. Also, the Sienna comes standard with a hybrid powertrain, which means that you’ll get high fuel economy (up to 36 combined mpg) regardless of which trim you choose. While the Pacifica offers a hybrid model, the standard model is gas-powered, which is not very efficient (up to 22 combined mpg).

Furthermore, the Sienna costs slightly less. It has a starting price of $36,135 MSRP, compared to $37,020 MSRP for the Pacifica

The 2023 Toyota Sienna is more reliable than the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, which gives it a big advantage. When deciding which minivan to get, the higher reliability is an important factor to keep in mind.
