Volkswagen is one of the largest automakers in the world. So, naturally, VW offers a decent lineup of SUVs. And like other brands, it also has an electric crossover SUV that shoppers might want to consider. Here’s an overview of all the 2023 Volkswagen SUVs.

Volkswagen Taos

The Taos is the smallest and most affordable model among Volkswagen SUVs. This subcompact crossover starts at about $24,000.

Volkswagen offers only one engine option in the Taos, a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 158 hp. The Taos starts with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is offered as well. In terms of tech, VW gave the Taos a digital cockpit system as standard, and this system replaces the traditional gauge cluster with a 12.3-inch screen.

Volkswagen Tiguan

The Tiguan is the best-selling model among Volkswagen SUVs. This compact crossover starts at about $26,500. But unlike many other models in its class, the Tiguan provides three rows of seats as standard. That allows the Tiguan to seat up to seven people, but folks can choose to equip the Tiguan with only five seats if they want.

Volkswagen gave the Tiguan only one engine option, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 184 hp. As for cargo capacity, the Tiguan provides more space in the two-row version than the three-row version. The two-row Tiguan has a max cargo capacity of 73.4 cubic feet, while the three-row version has a max cargo capacity of 65.3 cubic feet.

Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

The Atlas Cross Sport sits in the midsize crossover segment, and it has a starting price tag of about $34,000. VW gave the Atlas Cross Sport two engine options. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and it gets about 235 hp. The optional engine is a 3.6-liter that gets 276 hp.

Overall, though, the main difference between the Atlas Cross Sport and the Atlas, from which it was derived, is their size. The Atlas Cross Sport is a two-row crossover, making its interior dimensions different from the Atlas.

Volkswagen Atlas

The Atlas, which also sits in the midsize crossover segment, starts at about $34,600. It is very similar to the Atlas Cross Sport, and the two have the exact same engine options. However, VW gave the Atlas three-row seats as standard, and this allows it to seat seven people comfortably. But due to the fact that the Atlas is a larger crossover, its engines won’t be able to push it as fast as they can push the Atlas Cross Sport.

Volkswagen ID.4

The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s only electric crossover. That makes it the most fuel-efficient but also the most expensive option in the lineup. This compact crossover starts at about $37,500.

The standard ID.4 comes with a single electric motor that gets 201 hp, and folks can upgrade that to a dual-motor setup that gets 295 hp instead. Volkswagen also gave the standard ID.4 a 58-kWh battery, and this only gives it a range of 208 miles. Car shoppers can upgrade the ID.4 with a 77-kWh battery, giving it a range of 275 miles.
