Buick is a well-known premium brand that recently expanded its SUV lineup. One of its more popular models, the Encore GX, is getting some competition from another small crossover. The Envista recently hit the U.S. market. So, how do the 2024 Buick Encore GX and 2024 Buick Envista compare? Let’s take a look.
2024 Buick Encore GX vs. 2024 Buick Envista: Powertrain and performance
A 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine powers both Buick SUVs. The Envista makes 136 hp, while the Encore GX produces 137 hp. Both generate 162 lb-ft of torque. In addition, the Envista has a six-speed automatic transmission, and its sibling has a continuously variable transmission.
As for acceleration, the Envista can reach 60 mph in 9.5 seconds, according to MotorTrend. With a similar powertrain, the Encore GX has slightly faster acceleration. It managed a 9.2-second split when Edmunds testers drove it.
As for the drivetrain, the Encore has standard front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available on all trims for an additional $2,000. However, the Envista has only front-wheel drive.
Fuel economy and range
The two SUVs have a slight difference in EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings. The Envista gets 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The Encore gets 2 mpg more on city roads, but the highway figure is the same as its sister SUV.
Both have a 13.2-gallon gas tank. The Encore GX can travel 396 to 409 miles on a full tank. Buick says the Envista can go 396 miles.

Both models seat five, and the interior dimensions measure similarly. The Encore GX has 39.7 inches of headroom, 40.9 inches of legroom, and 55.4 inches of shoulder room in the front. In the rear row, it provides 38.1 inches of headroom, 36 inches of legroom, and 53.6 inches of shoulder space.
As for the 2024 Buick Envista, it has 39.4 inches of headroom, 41.9 inches of legroom, and 56 inches of shoulder space. In the back, there are 38.7 inches of headroom, 54.5 inches of legroom, and 54.5 inches of shoulder room.
Regarding cargo space, the Envista provides 20.7 cubic feet behind the rear row. With those seats folded down, the SUV offers 42 cubic feet. The Buick Encore GX has considerably more cargo capacity. It boasts 23.5 cubic feet behind the back row and 50.2 cubic feet with those seats folded.
Sticker price and warranties
The 2024 Buick Envista is slightly cheaper than its sibling. The base model starts at $23,495. The Encore GX starts at around $25,600, and the AWD model retails for about $27,600.
However, both SUVs have the same warranties. Each has three-year/36,000-mile basic coverage. The powertrain warranty is five years or 60,000 miles, and rust protection is for six years or 100,000 miles. Buick also offers roadside assistance for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The 2024 Buick Envista and Encore GX are similar, but the latter edges out its new sibling in a few areas. It offers AWD, has a slightly more powerful engine, and provides more storage space. However, the Envista is over $2,000 cheaper and touts a sporty coupe body style.
