The 2024 Buick Envista is a no nonsense near-luxury SUV
Forget Buick’s reputation for being favored among the senior population. The 2024 Buick Envista proves that the brand is targeting younger buyers by providing sleek style and near-luxury comfort for a bargain. However, it’s not perfect.
Is the 2024 Buick Envista worth buying?
Yes, the 2024 Buick Envista is worth buying if you’re in the market for an affordable SUV that’s comfortable, smart, and easy to use.
I spent the week with the Envista Sport Touring model which had a few added packages that increased the price from $27,975 to $29,070, including the $1,095 destination fee. It starts at $23,495.
But let’s start with its potential drawbacks:
- AWD isn’t available but rivals like the Mazda CX-30 have standard AWD.
- There’s a noticeable lack of tech, such as no head-up display or ventilated seats.
- The sole engine option is a little lackluster.
- Switching between driving modes provides minimal differences.
Now let’s circle back to the positives. The Buick Envista has a sleek and confident style. My tester came in an alluring shade of Moonstone Gray Metallic paint and fetched tons of compliments.
The 19-inch black aluminum wheels, grille, and tire cladding had a seductive touch of senister nature. Also, the body-colored door handles and side mirrors provide an upscale feeling.
The interior is attractive too. My model had Ebony White upholstery with Santori blue accents to draw the eye.
There were some bits of silver-painted plastic, but they paired nicely with leather-wrapped surfaces. The layout is well-planned and places everything you need within reach.
Also, the cabin is very comfortable. The 2024 Buick Envista has more passenger space than rivals in the class. The front seats are well-padded and supportive, and provide hours of comfort.
The rear seat also has plenty of space for taller passengers. The rear seat has a relaxed backrest angle, allowing people to sit back and relax. Plus, they get rear air vents which isn’t common for the class.
I was impressed by the active noise cancellation that provided a peaceful cabin experience. The climate control system is intelligent, quiet, and effective. It rarely needs adjusting.
Speaking of tech, the graphics on the 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster and 11.0-inch infotainment screen are vibrant and crisp. The rear HD camera provides a nice view of your surroundings.
However, the tech lacks customization settings. While it’s basic, the tech is refreshingly simple and easy to use, allowing drivers to focus on the road. I did want a head-up display and ambient interior lighting, though. On a positive note, the tech is extremely intuitive and easy to use.
The BuickEnivsta provides a smooth ride over the pavement and absorbs impacts with ease. The steering is well-balanced and the tires have plenty of grip for corning.
There’s limited body roll around sharp bends and the breaks are confident. If this SUV had more power it would give the athletic Mazda CX-30 more of a run for its money.
But unfortunately, the turbocharged 1.2-liter inline three-cylinder engine with 136 hp and 162 hp is a little lackluster. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 9.3 seconds. That’s perfectly fine for merging into traffic and passing others, but it’s not exactly thrilling.
On the other hand, the lack of sports car power provides tons of efficiency. The 2024 Buick Enivsta gets an EPA-estimated 28 mph in the city and up to 32 mpg on the highway. During my week, I hovered around 30.8 mpg.
Also, the Envista is agile and easy to maneuver. The 20.7-foot turning radius is convenient for navigating through tight parking lots.
Overall, while the Buick Envista lacks some modern tech and flash, it’s a well-rounded bargain. It’s comfortable, easy, and covers the basics with tons of standard features like wireless Apple CarPlay and a long list of intelligent safety systems.
