The 2024 Chevy Colorado Is Already Getting Massive Upgrades
What is going on with the Chevrolet Colorado? It’s still fresh out of the box with a complete redesign, but apparently, a new exterior, revamped interior, and modern tech weren’t enough. The 2024 Chevy Colorado already gaining huge enhancements.
2024 Chevy Colorado: What’s new?
The first interesting thing about the 2024 Chevy Colorado involves different engine tuning. According to the order guide, the Colorado will still use the same 2.7-liter inline-four engine. The turbo variant with 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque is standard.
You can upgrade to the TurboMax option for 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Chevy dropped the middle option, which provides 310 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. It’s a bit like the middle sibling, since some say the middle doesn’t get enough attention.
The engine pairs with a revised eight-speed automatic transmission. The Colorado still has the same amount of power as before. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 7,700 lbs and carry a payload capacity of up to 1,684 lbs.
Also, the midsize truck parted ways with the 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster screen. The larger 110-inch screen is now standard across the lineup. It displays the speedometer, tachometer, engine temperature, fuel level, mileage, trip displays, messages, and vehicle information.
The high-definition screen has a layout that can be personalized. Two instrument cluster layouts include Behanced or Enhanced. Plus, there are three display themes and a driver-selectable guage display.
What do we know about the 2024 Colorado ZR2 Bison?
The 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison is in the works and could be the most capable Colorado model ever. The Colorado Bison is crafted with the help of American Expedition Vehicles (AEV).
The Bison features an AEV heavy-duty steel front bumper that’s winch capable, an AEV rear steel bumper, and enhanced AEV fender flares. It rides on AEV 17-inch beadlock capable wheels wrapped in LT315/70R-17 (that’s almost 35 inches) Goodyear Wrangler Territory Mud-Terrain tires.
Boron steel skid plates and rock rails protect the undercarriage. Plus, it has a two-speed transfer case, electronically locking front/rear differentials, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and rides on the ZR2 chassis.
The ZR2 already has a 3.0-inch lift to provide a 10.7-inch ground clearance. But the ZR2 Bison is even taller, with a 12.2-inch ground clearance. Plus, it has a 32.8-degree approach angle, a 26.0-degree departure angle, and a breakover angle of 26.9 degrees.
How much will the 2024 Colorado cost?
Pricing for the 2024 Chevy Colorado hasn’t been released, but the 2023 model has an MSRP of $29,200. The top-spec ZR2 model takes the price up to $46,800. These prices don’t include the $1,495 destination fee.
We wouldn’t be surprised if prices increased a little to cover the upgraded tech. Also, the Colorado Bison could cross the $50,000 mark. But hopefully, it won’t share pricing with the GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition, which is expected to start between $60,000 – $70,000.
The Canyon is Colorado’s more expensive luxurious cousin. So the Colorado should be more affordable without lavish upgrades. However, both trucks share the same hardware.
