2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Shoppers Like 1 Trim More Than the Rest
The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD lineup includes the 2500HD and 3500HD. These heavy-duty pickup trucks still carry much of the standard Silverado appeal but with the capacity to haul and tow larger loads. Chevrolet offers the 2024 Silverado 2500HD in five trim levels. So, which one is right for you? Here’s a look at the most popular trim level of the new Silverado 2500 HD model among consumers and critics.
2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD configuration options
Chevrolet provides three options for cab configuration and a choice of bed length for the 2500HD. However, some trim levels exclude specific cab configurations. If you prefer a regular cab Silverado 2500HD with one seating row for three passengers, including the driver, your options include the long-bed WT and LT trims. Shoppers looking for a double cab pickup with either standard or long beds can choose from the WT, Custom, LT, and LTZ trims. The crew cab Silverado 2500HD features the same bed length and trim options as the double cab but adds the four-wheel-drive-only High Country trim.
We’ll set the standard bed crew cab configuration as our price and spec comparison baseline. While that configuration carries the second most expensive base price for the Chevy 2500HD, it’s only $3,500 higher than the least costly regular cab long-bed version. It’s also the configuration recommended by Car and Driver.

The most popular Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim among consumers
Edmunds ranks the Chevy Silverado 2500HD LT as the most popular crew cab trim. As a heavy-duty truck, many Silverado 2500HD models end up as fleet or small business work trucks. The LT trim’s popularity likely stems from its position as a mid-grade model with mid-range comfort and technology but still keeping lower-end pricing.
Which 2024 Silverado 2500HD trim do critics recommend?
Car and Driver recommends the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD LT trim with four-wheel drive, the Duramax diesel powertrain, the Z71 Off-Road package, the Safety package, and the Convenience package. MotorTrend recommends avoiding the WT and opting for a higher trim level with the Z71 package. Consumer Reports says the WT and Custom trim levels missed Chevrolet’s newest interior update, making the LT trim the least expensive option with the new and desirable features.
Is LT the best trim for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD?
While the LTZ and High Country trims provide additional hi-tech comfort and convenience features, the LT gets the job done in comfort and style at a considerably lower price. Standard LT trim features include:
- A 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen
- Integrated trailer brake controller
- Chrome bumpers
- Body color door handles
- Power-locking tailgate with EZ Lift assist
- A 12.3-inch color driver information screen
- Keyless open and engine start
- Trailering package with hitch guidance
The combination of its standard features and modest price make the LT trim the most popular version of the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD lineup.
