The 2024 Chevy Silverado SS Adds Much-Needed Muscle
We’re a little upset because the Chevrolet Silverado doesn’t have a monster truck option to fight the Ford F-150 Raptor R or the Ram 1500 TRX. The Silverado ZR2 is a nice start, but it’s not built for racing. Hopefully, the 2024 Chevy Silverado SS will give us the extra muscle we desire.
Is the 2024 Chevy Silverado SS being built?
Maybe, there are rumors about the 2024 Chevy Silverado SS emerging by the end of the year, but nothing has officially been confirmed. The SS part of the title stands for Super Sport. It means that the Chevrolet vehicle provides extra performance and a distinct racing style.
Do you remember the Chevy Camero SS? Well, apply those upgrades to the fullsize Silverado! The Silverado SS would have a unique advantage in the market as the only muscle truck available.
We’ve been waiting for the Ford Maverick ST or a sporty midsize truck from Ram to debut, but those options don’t seem to be in the works.
Also, the first Silverado SS model debuted in 2003. It was a single-cab model with a 6.0-liter V8 engine that cranks out 345 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. It answered the need for speed and provided the practical utility of a pickup truck.
How much power will the Silverado SS have?
The official figures for the 2024 Chevy Silverado SS haven’t been released, but Pickup Truck News speculates that the athletic truck won’t be short on power. It could borrow the Cadillac CT6 V’s turbocharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 550 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque.
Times are changing, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the engine was tuned to generate more power. Plus, we can’t ignore the possibility of hybrid or all-electric power.
Currently, the most powerful engine in the Silverado lineup is the 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in roughly 6.7 seconds. Hopefully, the SS can reach 60 mph in under 4.0 seconds.
It would most likely be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. But a manual option with spice things up. We can at least expect the Silverado SS to have steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, though.
Other features may include a lowered suspension, revised bumper shapes to improve aerodynamics, a unique grille, functional hood vents, an upgraded engine cooling system, wider tires, and a sidestep body style.
What will the Silverado SS interior be like?
The interior of the 2024 Chevy Silverado SS could incorporate a racing theme with leather bucket seats and aluminum pedals. We envision lots of black leather upholstery with red accent stitching and ambient lighting.
Unique SS badging might be found on the center console, and it could be embroidered on the seats. The digital gauge cluster may have a modern racing theme with unique graphics and driving stats.
It would probably get the head-up display, 13.4-inch infotainment screen, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated/ventilated seats, a wireless phone charging pad, panoramic moonroof, and power sliding rear window too.
