The 2024 Chevy Traverse Is Finally Gaining Fresh Updates
It’s time to take another look at the underrated Chevrolet Traverse. It might be showing its age, but it’s still an attractive and powerful three-row SUV. After facing a few delays, the 2024 Chevy Traverse is getting a spicy makeover.
2024 Chevy Traverse: What’s new?
The 2024 Chevy Traverse is finally getting a new face. In fact, it’s getting a brand-new exterior design because it’s time for a total redesign. This may seem rushed because the Traverse just got a mid-cycle refresh for 2022.
The 2022 model got a new front facia design with refreshed LED headlights and LED taillights. It also got a new infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and more standard features.
But the Traverse has been pretty much the same since 2018, and its age is starting to show. It was supposed to gain a mid-cycle refresh back around 2021, but the pandemic, semiconductor shortage, and supply chain constraints caused delays.
Edmunds spotted a 2024 Traverse in testing, but the SUV is heavily covered in camouflage. Based on the spy shots, we can determine that the Traverse is getting a more confident look with a boxier shape and possibly a suspension lift.
It looks more rugged, and the grille could be sportier to match the smaller Chevy Blazer. It has a triangular mesh pattern and a vertical design with a rectangular air intake under it. LED lights sit above the side air intakes.
The rear includes vertical taillights, like the Blazers. Also, it’s sitting on a sporty set of 20-inch five-spoke black alloy wheels. The Traverse could have a performance edition and a beefier off-roading model.
Will the 2024 Traverse interior be upgraded?
Yes, the 2024 Chevy Traverse will have a better interior. While the current model has a spacious layout, it’s full of plastics and looks plain. Chevrolet said the new interior will be bolder with more features.
The standard 7.0-inch and available 8.0-inch infotainment screens could be replaced with a larger unit. For example, the Blazer features an attractive 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
The small 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster, backup camera, and 360-degree camera system might be upgraded too.
Convenience features already include a heated steering wheel, heated seats, ventilated seats, a power liftgate, and a power-folding third row. We can’t wait to see what’s added to the mix.
How much power will the 2024 Traverse have?
The 2024 Chevy Traverse could use the current standard engine. It’s a 3.0-liter V6 unit with 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. But it could be upgraded to provide more power, like the Chevy Colorado engine.
Some rumors suggest that a plug-in hybrid Traverse could be in the works. However, the gas-powered variant will probably come out first. Also, the engine could gain an automatic start and stop technology to save fuel.
The Traverse can tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,850 lbs. This is average for the class, and the need for more muscle isn’t there. However, it would be appreciated.
The next-generation Traverse could debut soon, so stay tuned for the latest updates. We can’t wait to learn more.
