We expect it to compete with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and even the Ford Mustang Mach-E as a small SUV. How does the price compare to the competition?

Firstly, the 2022 Kia EV6 starts at $40,900. Moreover, the Pear is significantly more affordable than Kia’s EV option. Next, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts at $39,950. Essentially the same price as the EV6, the Pear is already outranking opponents for affordability. Lastly, the most popular EV of this size is probably the Ford Mustang Mach-E. It’s the most expensive of the quartet, starting at $43,895. As a result, the 2024 Fisker Pear will be shockingly affordable compared to other similarly-sized EVs.

Production for the larger Fisker SUV, Ocean, is set to begin in November 2022. Alternatively, the Pear won’t go on sale until 2024, so we expect production to start much closer to that time. Pear is an acronym; the electric vehicle isn’t named after a fruit. Furthermore, it’s the Fisker Personal Electric Automotive Revolution. For under $30,000, the compact, five-passenger electric crossover will attempt to be the next step in EV innovation.

Fisker promises “intuitive controls, sporty driving, clever storage, and a focus on industry firsts.” To which industry firsts is the automaker referring? We hope to see Fisker take risks and make some choices to stand out from the competition. In the same vein as Rivian, Fisker has a chance to establish a name for itself very quickly in the EV world. Rivian’s first electric truck, the R1T, introduced never-before-seen features that consumers love. We hope that the Fisker Ocean and Pear will do the same.

Fisker is partnering with a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, Foxconn, to produce the Pear. The Lordstown assembly plant in Ohio, which Foxconn purchased recently, will house the production of the Pear. Alongside it will be the Lordstown Endurance electric pickup truck from another EV startup.
