The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning is Getting a New Murdered-Out Trim
The Ford F-150 Lightning is getting a new look, and it’s pretty aggressive. This isn’t the first time Ford has done a black special editon pickup truck. You might recall the early ‘90s when Ford dressed the Ford F-150 in a black paintjob with special decals reading “Nite” and got the legendary 5.0- liter V8. Now Ford is revisiting this special trim with the Ford F-150 Lightning Platnium Black Edition. If you don’t know what “murded-out” means, you need not look any further than this new truck to learn.
What is the Ford F-150 Lightning Platnium Black Editon?
The all-electric Ford F-150 for the 2024 model year will get a new editon that comes wrapped in a matte black with gloss black accents.
If you go all the way back to the birth of Ford Motor Co. you might recall that the Henry Ford had some pretty strong feelings on painting all cars black. Don’t think for a second that Ford isn’t referncing this with the 1992 Nite truck and the new F-150 Lightning Black Editon. Unlike’s Henry Ford’s overly pragmatic reasoning for only painting cars one color, the Special Editon Lightning will be limited to only 2,000 examples. It’s like the Henry Ford idea only the complete opposite.
This is a first for Ford
It all Ford’s long history, the firm has never wrapped a car from the factory. This is a proper first, and Ford is committing to the bit.
When Ford says “black” it means it. The new truck trim sits on 22-inch matte black wheels held on by black lug nuts. Black Ford Oval badging and all-black U.S. flag badging dots the ink-black finish. The truck continues its piratey obsession with black power-deployable running boards with Agate Black gloss accents; a soft-shell black tonneau cover for the bed; a distinctive smoked signature light bar; reflective black-on-black Lightning badging; an Agate Black gloss roof that blends in with the glass roof panel; “Lightning” graphics on roof glass above passenger seating; Agate Black door handles; black premium Nirvana leather; and an Aluminum plate in both frunk and driver door with limited edition numbering.
There is another update coming for the Ford Lightning in 2024
Along with the all-black Ford Lightning, Ford has also announced an update for all F-150 Lightning owners that will allow them to use the Pro Power Onboard system with 9.6 kW of exportable power even when the truck is off. Another update is the new Walk Away locking feature that will allow owners to lock the Lightning with a passive key or telephone from afar.
How much will the Black Editon cost?
The regular 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platnium starts at $93,990. If you want to get the murdered-out verison, you need to step up to $99,990.
