The next generation of Ford Mustang is on the way, and with it, the range-topping Dark Horse. However, the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse isn’t alone in the sports car space; the pony car will have to contend with rivals like the 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0. Still, even with impeccable balance and speed, the GR Supra might not be up to the Dark Horse’s standards in a few ways, like horsepower and infotainment. 

What does the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse do better than the 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0?

While the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse and 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 are both 2+2 performance coupes with track day credentials. However, the Dark Horse outshines the GR Supra in a few criteria. 

• More horsepower and torque
• Larger infotainment center-stack screen
• More cargo capacity

The Dark Horse and the GR Supra 3.0 promise snappy acceleration, corner-carving grip, and sports car thrills. However, the Dark Horse’s new seventh-generation interior includes a larger set of screens and a more generous trunk than the smaller Supra. Moreover, the Mustang model’s Coyote V8 is the most potent derivation of the mill to date, with 118 horsepower over the six-cylinder Supra.  

How much HP will the Dark Horse have?

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will produce 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque. Further, the Dark Horse’s power is courtesy of the familiar 5.0L Coyote V8, albeit with key upgrades like forged internals and dual air intakes. 

As a result, the Dark Horse offers 100 horsepower per liter of displacement, a first for the Coyote-powered lineup. Moreover, the 500-horsepower Mustang mill is a great deal more powerful than the 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0, which produces 382 ponies from its turbocharged B58 inline six-cylinder engine. 

How big is the infotainment screen in the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse?

The new Dark Horse gets the same interior updates as the EcoBoost and GT trims, including a much larger center-stack screen. Specifically, the seventh-generation Mustang bumps the S550’s optional eight-inch touchscreen in favor of an expansive 13.2-inch screen with SYNC 4. 

The new touchscreen isn’t just a 5+ inch upgrade from the previous generation’s largest option; it’s 4.4 inches larger than the 2023 Toyota GR Supra’s 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, TrueCar says the Mustang’s larger touchscreen can be challenging to reach due to its large stature. Still, both sports cars offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. 

How big is the Toyota GR Supra’s trunk?

The 2023 Toyota GR Supra has 10.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Moreover, the Supra’s 2+2 coupe layout allows for small passengers in the rear seats or overflow storage. 

However, while the GR Supra’s cargo capacity is over twice as accommodating as a 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata, it’s not enough to contend with the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Specifically, the new Mustang Coupe has 13.3 cubic feet of storage space. Moreover, the Dark Horse has tight rear seats that drivers can use for overflow storage, although the model has an optional rear seat delete. 

How does the Toyota GR Supra 3.0 outshine the Dark Horse?

Despite how the 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 can’t contend with the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse, the Toyota sports coupe has many redeeming qualities. For instance, the GR Supra 3.0 starts at around $54,695, about $4,575 less than the Dark Horse.
