The 2024 Ford Mustang GT produces 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque from its naturally aspirated Coyote 5.0L V8 engine. However, owners who opt for the optional performance exhaust system will bump the output to 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque.
However, the new GT isn’t the top of the 2024 Mustang lineup; the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse produces 500 horsepower and GT’s same 418 lb-ft of torque from its Coyote mill. As a result, the Dark Horse is the most potent Coyote-powered Mustang ever.
Still, even the range-topping Dark Horse can’t outmuscle the now-discontinued Shelby GT350, which holds the record for the most powerful N/A Mustang to date. Of course, as owners and enthusiasts often do, you can add forced induction to boost the GT’s numbers. For instance, Hellhorse Performance will sell you a kit with two turbos to add serious power.

Consequently, if horsepower is your top concern, a used Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will produce over 700 horsepower for as much as $15,000 less than the twin-turbo Mustang. Further, the Hellcat will be developing its power with a factory application.
Are there more affordable ways to add power to a 2024 Ford Mustang GT?
Of course, 2024 Ford Mustang GT and Dark Horse owners don’t have to add forced induction to build horsepower. For instance, a cold air intake (CAI) and tune are some of the most popular non-invasive upgrades to add modest power gains for much less than a turbo kit.
