The 2024 Ford Ranger Is Disrupting Ford Bronco Production
Watch out for growing pains as the new Ford Ranger enters production. You could say that it’s shoving the Ford Bronco to the side, which isn’t exactly good news because tons of people are still waiting on their orders. Check out how the 2024 Ford Ranger could slow the Bronco down.
Where is the 2024 Ford Ranger built?
The 2024 Ford Ranger is being produced at the Dearborn facility in Michigan. What’s better than an American truck being built in the United States? Perhaps a truck that doesn’t disrupt one of America’s most popular SUVs!
According to MotorTrend, the new Ranger is being built in the same facility as the standard Ford Bronco and the Everglades. This is also where Bronco models with the six-speed manual transmission are built.
These Bronco models have already been delayed until next year and don’t have an official restart date. The delay could be due to retooling the factory to produce 2024 Ranger models at the end of the summer. The new Ranger and Bronco will share the same production line.
As Ford prepares to launch the next-generation Ranger, a few temporary manufacturing changes have been made to maximize commonality on the assembly line to ensure a quality launch of the Ranger while getting Bronco models to existing reservation and order holders.
It’s unclear why only a few Bronco models are impacted by this delay. Mike Levine, Ford North American Production Communications Director, shared that the manual and Everglades Bronco models will hopefully return in 2024.
When can you order a 2024 Ranger?
Allegedly, the 2024 Ford Ranger release date has been leaked. If the rumors are correct, then the 2024 Ranger order banks will open on May 26. Other sources shared that a press event will be held in early May for journalists to review the new Ranger.
This aligns with the goal of preparing Ranger models to reach dealerships by the fall. The new Ranger has already been met with a few delays. For example, the first production model was supposed to arrive by July 10 but was pushed back until August 7, 2023.
Plus, the order banks were initially supposed to open on April 17. It will be wild for the order books to open in May because Ford hasn’t released any official specs for the Ranger. The engine options, trim levels, and pricing have been kept under wraps.
Also, order banks for the 2023 Ford Ranger will close on April 27 for consumers. Commercial business orders have already closed.
Will there be a 2024 Ranger Hybrid model?
There is a strong possibility for the 2024 Ford Ranger Hybrid to arrive. But it’s expected to be accompanied by gas-powered models as well. This would allow it to compete against the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid.
The Ford Ranger EV isn’t expected to debut until later. Plus, rumors suggest that a plug-in hybrid model is in the works. In other countries, the Ranger has a stout turbo diesel engine, but it’s not coming to America.
Also, the current 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque could be improved to crank out more power or dropped.
There are still many things in the air for the 2024 Ranger, but it’s coming in hot. We could learn more about it in the next few days if it debuts in May. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
