2024 Ford Ranger Production Isn’t Looking so Hot
Supply chain issues and delays are hurting the Ford Ranger again! We don’t want longer waiting times for trucks and SUVs, but things can’t seem to calm down. Even though a production delay only pushed the 2024 Ford Ranger back by one week, customers face issues.
Why is 2024 Ford Ranger production delayed?
Supply chain issues and inflation are causing more trouble for the 2024 Ford Ranger. Some customers are eagerly waiting for the Ford Ranger Raptor to drop, which has a summer deadline.
However, fall is quickly approaching, and customers aren’t confident about that deadline. 2024 Ranger production was slated to begin on August 28 after being pushed back for a week. But new rumors suggest that it will be pushed back until sometime in September.
We haven’t found any information to confirm that production has started or was delayed again. But we do have feedback from customers.
One Ranger customer has been waiting for a build date since the order banks opened in May. The customer reached out for answers, and Ford confirmed that supply chain issues are hampering the ability to build new trucks.
The customer should get an update every 45 days or as soon as possible. They could be waiting for a while because things seem off to a slow start. With the best-case scenario, a new Ranger can be built in about six to eight weeks.
Can you still order the 2023 Ford Ranger?
No, you can no longer order the 2023 Ford Ranger. The order banks for commercial businesses closed on March 24, and they closed for consumers on April 27. If things have been going as planned, the 2023 Ranger shouldn’t be in production anymore.
You might be able to find a 2023 Ranger model at a dealership, but waiting for the 2024 Ford Ranger isn’t the worst idea. However, both models can still only tow up to 7,500 lbs. Also, the old 2.3-liter inline-four engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque is still standard.
Although, with the 2024 Ranger, you can upgrade to the 2.7-liter V6 engine for 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Ranger Raptor gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
Aside from more power, incentives to upgrade include more refinement. The wheelbase has been extended to provide a more comfortable ride with enhanced stability. Plus, the shocks were moved to outside the frame rail for better quality.
The interior is more modern, with advanced tech and new storage solutions to solve customer complaints about the outgoing model. Don’t forget about improved off-roading capabilities as well.
What comes with the Ford Ranger Raptor?
On an interesting note, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor doesn’t have a suspension lift. But it rides on 33-inch BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tires that boost its ground clearance to 10.7 inches. The track is widened by 3.5 inches to improve stability even more.
There’s a coil-over setup in the rear that’s paired with 2.5-inch Fox live valve shocks with internal bypasses at each corner. Piggyback reservoirs are in the rear with Teflon-infused shock oil.
The chassis features reinforced frame rails and mounting points to increase durability. Also, skid plates protect the undercarriage.
