Introduced in the 2022 lineup, the 2024 Genesis GV70 is a compact offshoot of its bigger sibling, the Genesis GV80. There are two powertrains available for the 2024 Genesis GV70: a 2.5-liter turbocharged Inline-4 GDI engine that produces 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The upgraded 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is the second, producing 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. This allows the 3.5T to launch itself from 0 to 60 mph in around 5.4 seconds with a top speed of approximately 150 mpg. Both powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The system employs sensors and cameras to monitor the road ahead for potential obstacles, such as vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists. If a collision risk is detected, FCA 2 issues visual and auditory warnings to the driver. Should the driver fail to react in time, the system can automatically apply the brakes to either avoid the collision entirely or reduce its severity. The “2” in FCA 2 often signifies an upgraded version, likely incorporating enhanced capabilities such as improved sensor technology, faster reaction times, or additional detection features like cross-traffic alert.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated these systems as superior for vehicle-to-vehicle scenarios and advanced for vehicle-to-pedestrian scenarios. It’s likely that the 2024 Genesis GV70 safety ratings will be similar to the 2023 model since there are no major changes expected in the design or features of the vehicle.

Only a few 2024 model year changes

The 2024 model year changes for the Genesis GV70 are mainly focused on adding more standard equipment and features to the different trim levels and packages. Here are some of the key changes according to the Genesis USA website:

• A Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard on all GV70s.
• The base 2.5T AWD gets 19-inch alloy wheels and monobloc front brakes as standard equipment. 
• The 2.5T AWD Sport Prestige gains standard ventilated front seats, a 16-speaker Lexicon premium audio system, manual rear door shades, and remote smart parking assist.
• The 3.5T AWD Sport Advanced is now available with 21-inch alloy wheels.
