Is a Fully Loaded 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Actually Worth Over $150K?
The GMC Hummer EV Pickup is like nothing else on the road. In the small but growing class of electric pickup trucks, the Hummer EV might be the most extreme. It’s more extreme than the Ford F-150 Lightning and more bold and brash than the Rivian R1S. This electric truck does an excellent job of packaging the Hummer ethos into an electric pickup.
However, it doesn’t come cheap. Let’s look at the cost of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. We’ll also examine what you can expect to pay for a fully loaded example.
2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup standard features
The 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a starting MSRP of $96,550, plus a $2,295 destination charge. That’s for the base 2X trim. Its standard powertrain produces 570 horsepower and 7,400 lb-ft of torque, and it gets 311 miles of range on a full charge.
Standard features in the 2X trim include a four-wheel steering system with CrabWalk, a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system, a wireless charging pad, adaptive air ride suspension, a Bose 14-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, and heated rear seats.
Upgrading to the 3X trim enhances the powertrain with a whopping 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. It also has a very impressive range of 381 miles. With the standard Watts to Freedom launch mode, it’s capable of a 0-60 mph time of around three seconds (we tried it, and it’s incredible). Another cool standard feature in this trim is the Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels.
How much is a fully loaded 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup?
For the well-heeled EV buyer who wants it all, GMC Hummer EV Pickup 3X can get much more expensive. For starters, the Omega Edition. By itself, it costs an extra $23,360, but there’s a catch. To upgrade to the Omega Edition, you also need to add the Extreme Off-Road Package and several other options, including an Extended Range battery. Some of the cool features that come with the Omega Edition include Neptune Blue matte paint, transparent Sky Panels, 18-inch black beadlock wheels, a Kicker audio system in the MultiPro tailgate, and premium carpet insert floor mats.
You can still pile on even more features like the Interior Storage Package ($1,595), Illumination Package ($1,995), a power-retractable tonneau cover ($3,695), and Lifestyle Adventure Package ($5,595), which includes a tent.
If you add every factory option possible to the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup, the cost comes to $164,020. That includes the $2,295 destination fee.
Is $164,000 worth it?
If a fully loaded 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup gives you sticker shock, then one of its rivals might be a better buy. For example, the Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum starts at a comparatively humble $89,995, and the Rivian R1T with the optional quad-motor powertrain starts at $87,000. Those are well-equipped electric trucks with exciting performance you can get at five-digit prices.
However, nobody buys a Hummer because it’s a good value. Despite the eye-watering price tag, a loaded GMC Hummer EV Pickup is worth every penny to the right buyer. Also, it’s probably more fun to say you drive a Hummer than an F-150.
