The battle between trucks continues on a larger scale as the new GMC Sierra HD steps up to the plate. It’s ready to fight rivals such as the Gord F-Series Super Duty and Chevrolet Silverado HD. Let’s see where the most significant 2024 GMC Sierra HD upgrades are made. 

The 2024 GMC Sierra HD fixes a few problems 

Welcome the 2024 GMC Sierra HD to the stage. It has a lot of new features that could make the GMC Sierra 2500/3500 more attractive, including a new face. It has the same LED headlight and grille design as the Sierra 1500 but looks about 10 percent bigger. 

According to Cars.com, the blacked-out features are hard to see, but they pop when covered in chrome. The new Game Sierra Heavy Duty lineup is ginning Delnali Ulitmate and AT4X trims to be more capable and to live up to its luxurious reputation. 

One significant upgrade includes the interior materials. Car and Driver noted that the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali had a disappointing interior. The use of cheap plastics and hard materials took away from that upscale feeling. 

Now the interior is outfitted with tons of high-quality leather and soft-touch-covered materials. Leather covers the doors, center console, and grab handles. Faux suede covers the headliner, visors, and pillars. 

Also, the interior features pops of genuine open-poor Paldao wood with a topographical map of Denali laser etched in the sides. 

How much power does the 2023 Sierra HD have? 

The 2024 GMC Sierra HD uses the same standard 6.6-liter V8 engine with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. But it’s paired with the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission, which should improve its performance. 

The 6.6-liter Duramax V8 diesel now delivers 447 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. It was close to cracking 1,000. Also, these figures are up from 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque with the outgoing model. 

GMC shared that the extra power and increased efficiency come from engine upgrades and a more efficient turbocharger that generates 25 percent more low-end torque. 

The Sierra 2500HD can tow up to 22,250 lbs, and the 3500HD can tow up to 36,000 lbs. Opting for the Crew Cab 2500HD model reduces the towing capacity by 600 lbs, bringing the figure to 21,900 lbs. It has a 4,000 lb increase. 

The Sierra HD got better tech 

The 2024 GMC Sierra HD seeks to feature the best-in-class tech with headlights that plat an animation as you approach your ride. The interior features massaging seats and a power sunroof. 

This big truck features a standard 13.4-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an optional 15-inch multicolor head-up display. 

New trailer features include cameras to help line up with your hitch or fifth wheel. A camera can display what’s behind the trailer. Plus, adaptive cruise control works while towing a trailer, and you’ll get an alert if you exceed the weight limit. 

We can’t wait to see what the AT4X can do once it arrives. The other models should be available by the spring of 2023. 

The new GMC Sierra HD looks better, has a higher-quality interior, has more muscle, and delivers a more efficient performance. It should be a more capable off-roader too.
