The 2024 Honda CR-V Has 2 Crucial Wins Over the Toyota RAV4
Ding ding, two SUVs are entering the arena to battle it out. While the Honda CR-V has been trying to catch the Toyota RAV4 for years, the RAV4 still has more sales. But the 024 Honda CR-V has two wins to consider.
The 2024 Honda CR-V beats the RAV4 in two areas
The first area where the 2024 Honda CR-V outranks the 024 Toyota RAV4 is in terms of comfort. According to Edmunds, the CR-V earned an 8.0 out of 10 for its comfort and the RAV4 got a 7.5.
Both SUVs have a smooth ride and quickly dampen impacts to prevent jostling around. But the RAV4 is a bit on the firmer side. Also, the RAV4 has flat seats while the seats in the CR-V are plush and supportive.
The passenger seat in the RAV4 lacks adjustment controls while the CR-V still doesn’t offer ventilated seats. Also, the CR-V is quieter at highway speeds but the hybrid engine can emit a loud wheeze at times.
The second area where the CR-V beats the RAV4 comes down to cargo space. The CR-V provides 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and up to 76.5 cubes total. With the RAV4, you get 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear with up to 69.8 cubes overall.
Passengers may find themselves more comfortable in the CR-V because they have more space to take advantage of.
Plus, the CR-V has a wide rear hatch and a convenient liftover height to make loading heavy or awkward items easier.
When properly equipped, the CR-V can tow up to 1,500 lbs. The RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs, which is above average for the class.
One area where the Toyota RAV4 beats the CR-V is off-roading. The CR-V doesn’t have an off-road-specific model yet, but the TrailSport could be coming soon.
The RAV4 has the Adventure and TRD Pro trims with plenty of off-roading upgrades like terrain modes, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, off-road suspension tuning, and taller roof rails. While the RAV4 is a slightly better adventurer, the CR-V has more comfort and space.
