Is your SUV in park? Well, if you own a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, then you might want to see if it’s still there. The Hyundai Santa Fe is being recalled due to a software issue that may cause it to roll away while parked.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe recall due to rollaway risk

Roughly 12,349 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe models in America and 806 models in Canada are under recall due to a rollaway risk.

The problem is related to faulty transmission software that could lead to transmission damage, or cause the vehicles to roll away while in park. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries.

Basically, the problem is related to the software that controls the Santa Fe’s dual-clutch gearbox. The current setup allows it to inadvertently engage the clutches and damage the transmission case or parking pawl.

If this damage occurs, the Santa Fe could roll freely even after it has been placed in park. Your Hyundai Santa Fe could be at risk if you notice an unfamiliar sound from the powertrain once the transmission is damaged.

Hyundai is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem. However, it is aware of 45 complaints related to the problem.

If your Hyundai Santa Fe model is at risk then you will need to visit a local dealership for service. A technical will update the transmission control unit to alleviate the clutch problem.

The transmission will be carefully inspected for damage. If any problems are found, they will be replaced at no cost to the owner.

Hyundai will begin notifying owners at risk on September 9, 2024. You can contact the Hyundai Customer Service line at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s code for this recall is 263.
