The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Got a Massive Towing Upgrade
Unlike rivals, the Jeep Wrangler has never been discontinued. Ever since it helped win wars, it has been celebrated by adventurous communities all over the world. From ducking to climbing over rocks, it only gets better and stronger. Now the 2024 Jeep Wrangler has rugged upgrades to be better than ever.
How much can the 2024 Jeep Wrangler tow?
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler can tow up to 5,000 lbs, which is a substantial increase. The outgoing model can tow up to 3,500 lbs, so it can pull an extra 1,500, meaning you can pull a larger trailer or heavier adventure crafts.
Let’s see how this stacks up to the competition. The 2023 Ford Bronco can tow up to 4,500 lbs, so the Wrangler has a 500 lb advantage. That’s probably not a large enough amount to really make a difference.
The Toyota 4Runner can tow up to 5,000 lbs, so Jeep has finally matched this beast. However, the 4Runner still has three rows, allowing you to cart more passengers into the wild. The next-generation 4Runner in 2024 or, more likely, in 2025, might be able to tow more.

2024 Wrangler: What’s new?
Aside from an increased towing capacity, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler got a revised face. The ionic seven-slot grille got a modern refresh that’s a bit smaller and more shapely.
But don’t worry. It maintains the classic circular LED headlights bit lights on the fender flairs. There are updated upholstery options and 10 unique wheel designs ranging from 17 to 20 inches to complete your custom look.
As Fox News notes, the new shape improves engine cooling and accommodates the new available 8,000 lb factory-installed winch.
You may notice that the classic whip antenna is gone but don’t worry. It has been integrated into the windshield glass to avoid being hit by low branches and car wash brushes. The antenna still has AM and FM radio.
The interior received a light refresh and a new 12.3-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment system. It’s powered by the latest Uconnect 5 software and features the built-in Trails Off-Road app with a library of built-in trail guides.
Plus, the Rubicon model has a stronger full-float Dana 44 axle. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sport is a new, more affordable model, but the official pricing hasn’t been released, and it has a Power Box accessory that features four 120-volt plugs that run off the battery pack.
Does the new Wrangler have more power?
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler has carried over each engine from the previous model year. With the standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, you get 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
Go diesel with the 3.0-liter V6 engine with 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. With the Rubicon 392, you get a 6.4-liter V8 engine with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine was canceled with the Gladiator, so it might be discontinued with the Wrangler soon.
Also, you can go green with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine with two electric motors and a battery pack to crank out 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It has an all-electric range of 22 miles.
