2024 Kia EV9 Electric SUV Range, Design, Tech: What We Know so Far

Kia continues its march toward electrification as the Kia EV9 electric SUV made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Korean automaker plans on releasing 11 electric vehicles by 2026. Following the smaller EV6 crossover EV, the 2024 Kia EV9 SUV will be the next electric vehicle available for customers. When will the 2024 Kia EV9 be available?
A production version of the 2024 Kia EV9 will likely debut in 2022, with the release date in 2023. The EV9 will be available at Kia dealerships nationwide in the United States and internationally.
Kia did not yet announce the price information of the 2024 EV9. However, the estimated MSRP of the base model of the electric SUV is around $50,000. The South Korean automaker will likely release the full price list for the EV9 with the cost for each trim closer to the release date.
2024 Kia EV9: Driving range, charging, and electric motor specs
According to Kia, the EV9 will have a driving range of 300 miles. It will be able to charge at a fast-charging station with a 350-kW charger. The charging time for the electric SUV to go from a 10% to 80% charge is 20-30 minutes.
Information about the electric motor and specs of the EV9 is not yet available. The smaller EV6 features a dual-motor system with an output of 576 hp.
2024 Kia EV9 design: A boxier electric version of a Kia Telluride
The Kia Telluride is a very successful model for Kia, so it makes sense that the South Korean automaker would create an electric version of the SUV. The EV9 has a similar size as the Telluride, as well as its sibling, the Hyundai Palisade, but takes things in a boxier direction.
For improving aerodynamics, the EV9 has retractable roof rails. At the hood vent area, the electric SUV features solar panels to capture sunlight for electric energy. For a great view and a sense of airiness in the cabin, the EV9 has a large panoramic sunroof. Additionally, the electric SUV rides on machined 22-inch wheels.
The EV9 also boasts eco-friendly credentials with the use of recycled materials for an environmentally sustainable interior. This includes recycled fishing nets and other plastics.
2024 Kia EV9 technology features
Kia reimagined its iconic Tiger face grille for the EV9 with what it calls the Digital Tiger Face. Since a traditional grille is not necessary with an electric powertrain, the EV9 has a full-body-colored front. Inside the Digital Tiger Face, there is a star cloud pattern display that creates a light show with sequential patterns.
Automakers are making larger touchscreens for cars, but Kia takes things to the extreme with the EV9. It has a massive 27-inch infotainment system touchscreen display.
The 2024 Kia EV9 is an exciting addition to the Kia electric vehicle lineup. It’s the Telluride electric SUV that people didn’t realize was coming but will be available nonetheless.
