2024 Lincoln Nautilus: Redesigned Luxury with Features Galore
Lincoln’s redesigned SUV crossover, the 2024 Nautilus, represents plenty of firsts for the Lincoln brand. The main one being it will be manufactured in China, and imported to the U.S. Its former manufacturing facility, in Ontario at the Oakville Assembly plant, will manufacture electric vehicles. While this aspect of the SUV will be interesting to watch, there is plenty of news about the SUV.
How luxurious is the Lincoln Nautilus?
Lincoln aims the new Nautilus at younger buyers, with its redesigned body, cabin, and technology features. “It’s the game changer for the brand,” Michael Sprague, Lincoln’s North America director, told Automotive News. “This puts us on the map for the customers who haven’t considered us in the past. The segment’s about 40% of the luxury market, and we’re a 2% player right now. It’s a huge opportunity.”
Inside, Lincoln is after a “sanctuary” theme. Two 24-inch screens span the entire width of the dash. “Crystal-inspired” details run throughout the cabin. They include the piano key shifter, toggle switches, and audio knobs.
What technology is found in the Lincoln Nautilus?
“Lincoln Rejuvenate” adds ambient lighting, various displays on the screen, 28 speakers, massaging seats, and even scents introduced into the SUV. There are three scent cartridges in the armrest, for easy refilling. The scents have compelling names like Mystic Forest, Ozonic Azure, and Violet Cashmere.
With the Nautilus BlueCruise 1.2, hands-free driving arrives with the midsize SUV. It includes automatic lane-change assist, among other features. You may know its previous version called ActiveGlide.
Does the Lincoln Nautilus have a hybrid option?
Two engines will be available. A standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and hybrid. The standard 2.0 cranks out 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Both are hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A hybrid option is available, apple to the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Coupled with a 100 kW motor, combined they power the SUV with 310 hp. This is the third Lincoln product with a hybrid system, with three EVs added to the brand by 2025. According to Automotive News, Lincoln expects 90% of the brand’s sales will be electric by the end of the decade.
How much is the Lincoln Nautilus?
The only hiccup toward that goal is that over a third of all Lincoln, dealerships did not sign up to sell the coming EVs. Lincoln’s EV certification program is required to sell and service the EVs. Some expect the main reason is that almost $1 million dealerships must pony up to participate.
The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus’ base price is $51,810, with the high-end Black Label trim starting at $75,860. Built by a joint venture with China’s Changan, reservations are now open. The first deliveries are coming to dealerships in early 2024.
