You don’t see Maserati cars all the time, which seems to add to the allure of each model. Even though there has been a focus on high-powered vehicles since its inception, the SUV craze ushered in a new era for the brand. The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is back and better than ever, with more power, plenty of space, and looks that can turn heads – even in Miami, where rare supercars are a dime a dozen.

There are a lot of things that make the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo stand out, and each one is important. Created 75 years ago, the GranTurismo is like the cool relative you rarely see that always leaves you full and happy after a visit. Maserati invited us to Miami to drive the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo, which proved to be quite the experience.

Hitting the market soon, the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo will come in two trim levels with a gasoline engine. The Modena trim gets the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 Nettuno engine with 483 horsepower, while the Trofeo gets a souped-up version with 542 horsepower. Later, there will be an all-electric Folgore trim with an eye-watering 751 horsepower and 995 lb-ft of torque.

Pricing for the Modena starts at $174,000, while the Trofeo starts at $205,000. We say “starts at” because Maserati allows you to customize most aspects of the vehicle, which means pricing can vary quite a bit depending on the specs. The GranTurismo Folgore is estimated to start at $215,000 or so.

Bill Peffer, CEO of Maserati Americas, says the GranTurismo formula is pretty simple: captivating shape, room for four adults, a great sound system, and performance that lives up to the Maserati brand. 542 horsepower sounds like a lot of power; it is, and it works. But one of the things that makes Maserati so great is how approachable it is. Even with 542 horsepower, you can hop right into the GranTurismo and hit the road. And that is precisely what we did!

Despite all the power, the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is a breeze

All the essential buttons are on the steering wheel or the central selection area. It does have actual buttons (hallelujah), and everything is easy to find. The 2024 GranTurismo Trofeo and Modena have four different driving modes like you might find on any other model: Comfort, GT, Sport, and Corsa. Even though we are big fans of the Corsa mode, we stuck to GT for our ride in traffic for the most part.

It isn’t every day that I get into a car and head straight for a traffic jam on Miami Beach, but if you know, you know. That’s the tradeoff for living on the water. However, the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo was a champ throughout. I was able to slip in and out of lines of cars without hesitation, and the brakes stopped on a dime when needed. I love a real turn signal, and the sports car provided an easy-to-flick signal. Five points for the turn signal.

One of the best (and sometimes overlooked) parts of the GranTurismo is that it has four seats. While that is an integral part of the DNA of the lineup, it really makes the sedan so liveable. The back seat offered space for people, purses, and the inevitable grocery run. There is 10.95 cubic feet of cargo space behind the seats, which is about average for the segment.

I’m not saying you need the 2024 GranTurismo, but you might

When Maserati first designed the GranTurismo after WWII, there was an emphasis on having a sporty and comfortable vehicle. In a day where most cars lean one way or the other, the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo accomplishes both flawlessly. Throw in luxury, and you really can’t ignore everything the new model has to offer.

Most people who appreciate luxury cars will be able to respect the build that is the 2024 GranTurismo. Maserati nails every feature and detail with a sort of je ne sais quoi that some of its main competition lacks. For the driver who likes the road less traveled and doesn’t want to lose their car in a sea of similar-looking luxury sedans, our money is on the GranTurismo.
