Has anyone warned the Kia Telluride that the Mazda CX-90 is entering the arena? It’s coming to battle for the best three-row SUV title. Also, the 2024 Mazda CX-90 will be here sooner than you think, but at least the 2023 Kia Telluride has a few tricks up its sleeves.

When will the 2024 Mazda CX-90 come out?

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is expected to hit the streets by the end of 2023. It could arrive faster than that because it will be revealed in January. That’s right around the corner, y’all. You’ll eat some turkey, open some presents, and then it’ll be up on the stage.

It will be the brand-new SUV in the spotlight, competing against the Kia Telluride. The Telluride has been flexing with its glittery sheen and convenient family features as a larger vehicle for Americans, and the CX-90 is putting a new spin on this boxy recipe for success.

We’ve tested the Kia Telluride, and we respect its strengths and found a few weaknesses. For example, it exhibits noticeable body roll around sharp curves. It could be a little more athletic. However, reportedly, suspension tuning has improved the dynamics for the 2023 model.

Anyways, the CX-90 is coming to replace the Mazda CX-9. We will miss the sporty, refined, and luxurious CX-9, but it’s just too small for American families.

That’s why the CX-90 is expected to offer the same athletic and convenient benefits, only on a larger scale. Passenger and cargo space should be improved. It will ride on the new longitudinal-engine platform and serve as the largest option in the lineup.

How much power will the CX-90 have?

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is expected to gain a new turbocharged inline-six 3.0-liter engine. According to Car and driver, it could be paired with a 48-volt hybrid system. A teaser image shows an Inline6 badge and a side vent.

So, we can expect more power and speed. Also, it could gain the plug-in hybrid setup from the Mazda CX-60 in Europe that generates 323 hp.

The current Mazda CX-9 has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 277 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.1 seconds.

The 2023 Kia Telluride comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 h and 261 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in around 7.5 seconds.

Also, the Telluride X-Pro can tow up to 5,000 lbs, and the CX-9 can tow up to 3,500 lbs. So, the CX-90 will need some extra muscle. At least it’s expected to come with standard all-wheel drive.

The Telluride has a beefy X-Pro off-roading trim that adds tons of capability. We aren’t sure if the CX-90 has an off-roading trim in the works.

How much will the 2024 CX-90 cost?

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 price could start around $40,000. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 begins at $38,750. The CX-90 will feature new engine options and more space, so it could increase the price.

Also, the 2023 Kia Telluride starts at $35,690, giving it an advantage. But the CX-90 could include more value, especially with standard features such as AWD.

We can’t wait to see what the 2024 Mazda CX-90 brings to the ring. It could be the biggest thing to come out since the Kia Telluride debuted.
