The Altima has been a solid midsize sedan since its introduction in 1992. It received a facelift in 2019 and remains a top seller for the Japanese automaker. The 2024 Nissan Altima is on sale now, bringing an enticing perk and a slightly higher starting price. Otherwise, the car remains mostly unchanged.

What’s new with the 2024 Nissan Altima: A price increase and an extended free trial

The 2023 Altima offers plenty to love. It touts new wheels, a revamped logo, and a redesigned front fascia with updated LED highlights. Nissan also renamed the range-topping Platinum trim “SL” and added a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Sales numbers show the Altima has sold 63,241 so far this year, second only to the best-selling Rogue compact SUV, with 147,745 units sold.

So if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Nissan hasn’t changed much on the 2024 Altima. The biggest enticement is an extended NissanConnect Services trial. Previously, buyers received a six-month trial, but the 2024 Altima comes with three years of free NissanConnect Services.

The 2024 Altima also sees a modest $200 price increase across the lineup. The 2023 model starts at $25,630, whereas Nissan bumped up the 2024 Altima MSRP to $25,730 for the entry-level S FWD trim. That excludes a $1,095 destination and handling fee.

What is included in NissanConnect Services?

NissanConnect Services is a technology suite that includes music playback, communication functions, door-to-door navigation, and other convenience features. The system connects to the driver’s smartphone to help them stay focused on the road ahead. It also comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay pre-loaded.

Moreover, NissanConnect Services uses Google technology, including the Send-to-Car feature, enabling drivers to send directions to their vehicle’s navigation system straight from their phone. It also includes a function that displays current information about restaurants, gas prices, and hotels. Other valuable features are voice recognition, smartphone integration, remote control, navigation, USB connectors, and Bluetooth audio streaming.

All NissanConnect Services apps are available when the Altima is in motion. However, it restricts some functions until the car is stopped to prevent the driver from getting distracted while on the road. One such function is keypad dialing. When the driver receives a call via Bluetooth, the system turns off all audio sources.

Every new model comes with a free NissanConnect trial (usually six months), which requires the owner to enroll. Buyers can enroll at the dealership when they purchase the car or do it themselves by downloading the MyNissan app and registering for a MyNissan Owner Portal Account.

The subscription cost for the service starts at $8 monthly for the Security and Convenience packages and $12.99 for the Premium package. NissanConnect with a Wi-Fi hotspot subscription costs $20 monthly but has a 30-day free trial and combines the Security and Convenience packages.

All have a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to transfer power to the wheels. Most 2024 Altima trims come with a base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 188 hp and an optional 2.0-liter VC-Turbo harnessing 248 hp.

The 2024 Nissan Altima’s advanced safety features include blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, high-beam assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear automatic braking. It also boasts ProPilot Assist for highway driving.
