The 2024 Nissan Frontier Hardbody Isn’t the Only Exciting Change
There could be significant changes for the Nissan Frontier on the horizon, including a mid-cycle refresh. That means we could see a new face, much-needed tech updates, and the return of one epic model. The 2024 Nissan Frontier Hardbody is one exciting retro update.
2024 Nissan Frontier: What’s new?
We hope this information isn’t premature, but this 2024 Nissan Frontier press release says the truck could receive a mid-cycle refresh. However, this isn’t the case. The current generation was just completely redesigned for 2022, but it received a new engine and nine-speed automatic transmission back in 2020.
Also, some aspects of the Frontier, like the digital gauge cluster, infotainment system, and camera resolutions, feel dated. Last but not least, the Toyota Tacoma is the Frontier’s main rival – and it’s brand new for 2024.
Reportedly, the 2024 Frontier will ride on the same frame as the Nissan Navara. It should provide a more comfortable ride on the pavement and feature off-roading upgrades.
The new look is inspired by the Nissan Hardbody Desert Runner. Only a few spy shots have been captured, but under the camouflage, it’s safe to assume that the new model has a similar grille and headlight design.
In 2025, the updated Frontier could have a more modern and confident look with revised bumpers and taillights to complete its refreshed style that pays homage to the wildly successful retro hardbody design.
What comes with the Frontier Hardbody?
The 2024 Nissan Frontier Hardbody is back with classic retro flair. It calls to the Nissan truck’s 1980s heritage with old-school 17-inch wheels wrapped in Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires. It has a sports bar, black over-fenders, and retro graphics.
It’s nearly identical to the Fronter Hardbody concept that debuted in 2022. Both models even have the classic red paint. However, the tire choice was changed.
The concept wore all-terrain BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires, which provide a more aggressive look. They might be the more capable option as well. Also, the concept had lights on the sports bar.
You can add the Hardbody package to the SV CrawCab model for $3,899. This increases the price to $42,905. Don’t forget about the $1,335 destination fee.
Does the 2024 Frontier have more power?
The 2024 Nissan Frontier will probably keep its standard 3.8-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque as the entry-level option. It could be retuned to crank out more power, or a new option could be added to the lineup.
Typically, trucks don’t receive more power during a mid-cycle refresh. But the new Nissan Frontier Hardbody would need more muscle to compete. The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro cranks out 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
There are a few rumors about the Nissan Frontier Hybrid floating around, which could beat the Ford Ranger Hybrid to market.
The year is ending, so we might not see the updated Frontier until next year. However, the Detroit Auto Show and other exciting events that are perfect for debuts are coming up. Stay tuned for updates. The new Frontier might drop with surprising upgrades.
