Mercedes-Benz. BMW. Jaguar. These are the names readily associated with luxury. However, some unexpected vehicles offer a surprising interior comfort and poshness. Fortunately, my time in the 2024 Nissan Rogue revealed a surprisingly opulent interior environment with ample tech and pleasing materials.

My time in the 2024 Nissan Rogue SL revealed a handsomely updated two-tone interior loaded with tech

The 2024 Nissan Rogue SL’s best feature isn’t its redesigned exterior. No, it’s the Rogue’s light and airy interior. The SL trim features copious soft-touch materials and genuine leather in place of the cloth seating in the base model. It wasn’t until I looked down at the flat-bottom steering wheel and saw the Nissan badge that I was reminded of the crossover SUV’s origins. No Mercedes star, but certainly not austere, either.

My Rogue featured a two-tone interior with reminders of the brand’s other models. For instance, the Rogue features a similar blocky gear selector to the marque’s eight-passenger Pathfinder SUV. It’s certainly an elevating feature and a welcome upgrade from the traditional lever in the more affordable Versa sedan. Furthermore, while my Rogue SL didn’t feature ventilated seats, the dual-zone climate control provided a much-needed respite from unseasonable heat.

Technology is everywhere in the 2024 Nissan Rogue SL, from the digital display to the 12.3-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, although not necessary to pair with Bluetooth. Moreover, the SL and Platinum trims offer a built-in Google suite, complete with Google Play, Maps, and Assistant.

Better yet, the horizontal touchscreen resides at eye level, a welcome departure from plunging infotainment screens and their propensity to distract drivers. The digital display provides real-time information, including windshield wiper settings and tire pressure. That said, some of my more spirited cornering tricked the TPMS into second-guessing itself.

A Rogue SL accommodates two large rolling suitcases.

On a practical note, storage was plentiful. Deep door pockets, a two-level dash, and a split-door armrest provide a sightly alternative to piling your articles on the back seat or passenger footwell. Passenger space and headroom are plentiful, more than enough for my 6’4 co-pilot.

The trunk worked in two adjustable panels to keep your bags and belongings from moving around. However, I found the sliding panels at times cumbersome. Still, with the rear seats folded, the Rogue offered over 74 cubic feet of storage. Of course, you’re not going to get that kind of volume without sacrificing the rear seats. But even with the rear seats upright, the Rogue easily accommodated two large rolling suitcases.
