Polaris is joining the overlanding segment with the new Xpedition lineup of ATVs. The brand has always been known for its off-road side-by-side vehicles like the RZR XP and quirky on-road vehicles like the Slingshot. Now, Polaris is offering off-road enthusiasts a new way to explore backroads and hidden trails.

What is the 2024 Polaris Xpedition?

The 2024 Polaris Xpedition combines the capability of a traditional side-by-side with the enclosed structure of an SUV or truck cab. That means it will have the creature comforts you’ll typically find in a normal on-road vehicle, like air conditioning and heating. The Xpedition will also be offered in two styles – Xpedition XP and Xpedition ADV – and three trim levels – Premium, Ultimate, and Northstar. Each body style will be offered in either a two-seat or five-seat configuration.

How much will the Polaris Xpedition cost?

Pricing for the 2024 Polaris Xpedition will start at $28,999 for the base Premium model and up to $39,999 for the Northstar trim levels. The price differential between the XP and ADV is around $1,000 across every trim level. For that extra cash, buyers will have the added benefit of a more SUV-like look with the ADV compared to the truck-like structure of the XP, which comes with a 30-inch bed.

What does each Xpedition come with?

No matter which body style buyers choose, it will come equipped with a 999cc ProStar 1000 Gen 2 twin-cylinder engine that makes 114 hp and can tow up to 2,000 pounds. The Xpedition Premium models will come standard with notable features like a 4.3-inch JBL color display, Fox shocks with up to 14 inches of travel, 30-inch tires, and 15-inch wheels.

The Xpedition Ultimate trim levels add more features like a seven-inch touchscreen, surround-sound audio with a 10-inch subwoofer, front and rear cameras, a winch, and a padded center console. Buyers wanting everything the Xpedition offers should pick the Northstar trim, which features a fully-enclosed cabin with temperature controls, locking doors, and power windows.  

When will the Polaris Xpedition come out?

Polaris says the Xpedition Ultimate and Northstar trim levels should be available at participating dealers by the end of summer and the lower trim levels by next year. The recreational vehicle brand says the Xpedition will create “an entirely new category of ‘adventure side-by-sides,’” which we can get behind.

But with a price of around $40,000, it could be a hard sell for anyone that wants an off-road vehicle that can take them off-road while keeping them comfortable. After all, isn’t that what Jeeps and trucks are for?

Either way, the all-new Polaris Xpedition is an interesting addition to the lineup, and it could make sense for anyone that needs comfortable transportation off the grid.
