Why is switching to a hybrid vehicle so expensive? It can feel like the extra thousands negate the fuel savings, unless you consider one Toyota model in particular. The 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is the most affordable hybrid SUV available. 

How much does the 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid Cross cost? 

The 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid starts at $29,579 with the $1,350 destination fee included. It’s the cheapest hybrid SUV available. Rivals like the Ford Escape Hybrid and Dodge Hornet Hybrid start at over $35,000. 

What about the hybrid truck? Well, the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid starts at $27,555 with the destination fee included. But it can’t be paired with AWD and is harder to get. It could also have higher dealership markups. 

With the Corolla Cross Hybrid, you get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with three electric motors to generate 196 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to each wheel with standard all-wheel drive.

It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.9 seconds, which is great for the class. Plus, the regular model makes it to 60 mph in roughly 9.6 seconds. 

The Corolla Cross Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 45 mpg in the city, 38 mpg on the highway, and 42 mpg combined. During my week with one, I never went above 40 or below 38 mpg. 

Standard 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid features include 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, push-button start, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto,  120-volt outlet, and heated exterior mirrors. 

Standard safety features consist of adaptive cruise control, lane departure mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

So, along with being the most affordable hybrid SUV, the Corolla Cross is value-packed.
