No SUV is perfect, but some of them get pretty darn close. I had a wonderful week behind the wheel of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and enjoyed most of what it offers. However, three 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid features have the potential to be annoying.

2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid features that could be improved

First of all, I’d like to clarify that the 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has plenty of bonuses to consider. It’s faster than the gas-powered model, more comfortable, and has an outstanding EPA-estimated fuel economy of 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

The tech is intuitive, there are plenty of physical buttons, the interior is attractive, and unique storage trays are available throughout the cabin. However, there are a few 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid features that might lower its score.

1. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is loud

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid would benefit from either better sound insulation materials or more. It’s incredibly loud at highway speeds, which can ruin the vibe during trips and daily commutes.

Seriously, it’s hardly better than a Jeep Wrangler despite not being shaped like a brick. Of course, all-terrain tires can add to the noise.

However, I had the radio turned all the way up and still couldn’t hear my podcast very well. The Honda CR-V Hybrid is noticeably quieter. It’s fine at lower speeds with an occasional engine wheeze that’s easy to ignore, though.

2. The RAV4 Hybrid could be more comfortable

The RAV4 Hybrid doesn’t have the most comfortable seats in the world. In fact, the Sienna actually has the most comfortable seats in the current lineup.

Anyways, the seats are flat and lack support for longer drives. I took my Mom to lunch with the RAV4 Hybrid, and the first thing she commented on was the stiff seats.

The seats offer enough padding for comfort on daily commutes. But around the hour mark, you might notice a twinge in your lower back.

Otherwise, the RAV4 Hybrid has a smooth ride and a strong climate control system to keep everyone happy. There are even air vents for rear passengers.

3. Backseat space is limited

Limited back seat space is one of the worst 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid features for taller families. The Honda CR-V has more room in the back, but the Mazda CX-5 has less. The RAV4 hybrid is pretty average for the class.

However, at 5’1”, I didn’t have enough room in the rear seat. There wasn’t much room between my knees and the back of the front passenger seat. But if your kids are shorter than me, then this isn’t too much of a real problem.
