2024 Toyota Tacoma Production Will Finally Start in December
We have good news and bad news for Toyota Tacoma fans. The bad news is that you’ll have to wait a few months for the brand-new model. But the good news is that we’re finally starting to see the 2024 Toyota Tacoma production progress. This truck is actually moving!
When will the 2024 Toyota Tacoma enter production?
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is currently slated to enter production in December. This information is based on a leaked document, and it looks like an official Toyota piece. Also, it mentions that 65 models have been made so far.
Even though a few models are being built, mass production isn’t scheduled until December. The delay is unclear, but at least a few new models could reach dealerships by the end of the year.
Also, don’t be surprised if production is pushed back. Factors such as supply chain shortages and rising inflation could cause problems.
The 2024 Ford Ranger has already faced delays. However, Toyota is union-free, so it’s not being impacted by the United Auto Workers (UWA) strike.
But we do have another kicker. If you want a Tacoma with the new hybrid engine, you’ll have to wait much longer. The Toyota Tacoma Hybrid variants aren’t scheduled for production until April 2024.
The Tacoma has 14 variations, including hybrid models. However, it’s currently unclear if the Tacoma TRD Pro is available with the gas-powered engine.
How much power does the 2024 Tacoma Hybrid have?
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid uses the new i-Force Max powertrain. It pairs the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 1.87-kWh mickle hydride battery pack to generate 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
That’s an attractive amount of torque for off-roading and overlanding. Also, it makes the Tacoma the most potent mid-size truck in its class since the 2024 Ford Ranger doesn’t have a hybrid option. Actually, none of the Tacoma’s true rivals have electric power.
The standard turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder trim cranks out 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque with the entry-level SR trim.
Upgrade to higher trims for 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque with the available six-speed manual transmission or 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2023 Tacoma has a standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque and an available 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. So, you don’t have to wait for the Hybrid to gain more muscle.
How much will the 2024 Tacoma cost?
Official pricing for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma hasn’t been released. However, if it enters production in December, then we can speculate that pricing will be revealed in October, and the order banks could open by November.
Rumors suggest that the 2024 Tacoma will start under $30,000 to provide an affordable work truck variant and to undercut the competition. The 2024 Ford Ranger starts at $32,565 and lacks a basic entry-level model.
The Ranger Raptor takes the price up to $55,365, and we can see the Tacoma TRD Pro or Trailhunter models hovering around a similar price.
Stay tuned for updates. We’re finally starting to learn more about the 2024 Tacoma. Pricing could be revealed soon as production ramps up.
