2024 Toyota Tacoma transmission failure might be linked to leftover debris
The Toyota truck nightmare continues with another botched launch. The current generation of the Toyota Tundra launched with critical issues, such as debris left in the engine that leads to failure. Now, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma transmission failure could also be linked to debris.

Have you been keeping up with the 2024 Toyota Tacoma transmission failure complaints? As more models are delivered more complaints about the eight-speed automatic transmission and the six-speed manual transmission.
Complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) list suddenly being locked out of certain gears, rough knocking, skipped gears, leaking transmission fluid, and some gears disappearing after the truck is restarted.
This is potentially a dangerous problem as the transmission could seize up while driving, causing you to lose control of the vehicle. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
To make matters worse, these problems are popping up very early on. Most complaints are about Toyota Tacoma, which is less than 1,000 miles on the odometer. Some complaints are with models with under 400 or 350 miles.
Toyota has been replacing transmissions under warranty, saving drivers from having to face expensive repair bills. However, Toyota might need to issue a recall or a stop sale, because rumors suggest that the transmission failure is related to leftover debris.
A new service bulletin for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma explains that when you replace the transmission you may find debris in the pan.
If this is the case, then the technician should also replace the torque converter. If it’s not replaced, then the remaining debris could be introduced to the replacement transmission.
Debris in the transmission may have been left during the production process, similar to how debris was left in the engine of the Toyota Tundra.
Here’s the cherry on top of the cake. Those who need a new transmission will have to wait because there aren’t any in the United States. There is a wait of about two to four months to get the Tacoma transmission replaced.
So, people can’t even drive their brand-new trucks for a while. This is a serious hit to Toyota’s reputation for reliability. Stay tuned for updates.
