The 2024 Toyota Tacoma and Tundra Have an Off-Roading Issue

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma and Tundra need a tailpipe revision
Both the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro models are equipped with a driver’s side exhaust that has a low-hanging pipe.
According to TFL Truck and other critics, including myself, the low-hanging tailpipe is an issue. It can easily get snagged and signed on the trail.
With the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, I felt like the ground clearance was impeded because the tailpipe could become misshaped or even get ripped off while crawling over rocks.
The Tundra TRD Pro features a 9.0-inch ground clearance, which is great, and the Tacoma TRD Pro has an 11-inch ground clearance. So, off-roading in the Tacoma with its low-hanging tailpipe feels a bit safer.
Also, the Tacoma has an advantage because it comes with recovery hooks. The Tundra doesn’t have tow hooks, but there are aftermarket parts to consider.
When you pit these trucks against each other, the Tacoma comes out ahead as the better off-roader. It has a smaller size, allowing it to better fit on narrow trails. It’s also not as heavy.
Both models are equipped with a standard hybrid engine. The Tundra TRD Pro features a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s paired with an electric motor and battery to generate 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque.
The Toyota Tacoma Hybrid pairs a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with an electric motor and a battery pack to provide 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
While the Tundra TRD Pro features 18-inch TRD wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, skid plates, a locking differential, Multi-Terrain Select off-road modes, crawl control, and hill descent control, we’re still waiting to learn more about the Tacoma TRD Pro.
The Tacoma TRD Pro and the hybrid engine will be available in April. So far we know that it has 18-inch TRD wheels, forged upper control arms, 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass QS3 shocks with rear piggyback remote reservoirs, and IsoDynamic performance seats with a dampening system.
