Are you ready to howl while driving your compact truck? The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo should have you being loud and proud because it’s the compact racing truck that we’ve been begging Ford to build for years.

The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo is ready to race

Since the Ford Maverick made its debut in 2021, I’ve been one of the many drivers who hoped for a racing-oriented model to arrive.

Now the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo finally answers our prayers by marking the return of tiny sport trucks. Also, Lobo means wolf in Spanish, so that’s why I mentioned howling.

The street racing truck doesn’t pack any extra power. It actually has less power. It’s equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been detuned from 250 hp to 238 hp.

It’s paired with a new seven-speed automatic transmission. The Maverick Lobo also has a twin-clutch rear drive unit. It increases torque to the outside wheel.

While the lack of extra power is disappointing, the Maverick can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, unless the decreased power takes a toll. Also, the Lobo upgrades might make it even faster.

The transmission is uniquely calibrated for racing, you can take advantage of the paddle shifters for enhanced precision, and it has upgraded oil and transmission coolers to prevent overheating.

The suspension was lowered by 0.5 inches in the front and 1.1 inches in the rear, which lowers the roof height by 0.8 inches. It borrows monotube rear dampers from the Maverick Tremor with special tuning.

Plus, the new Lobo driving mode reduces stability and has unique torque vectoring. It’s meant for closed courses.

The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo has a distinctive style with 19-inch wheels, color-matching bumpers and rocker panels, and a black roof. The interior features Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching that’s inspired by street culture.

The order book for the Maverick Lobo is already open and deliveries should start at the beginning of 2025. The standard model starts at $36,595 and the High version increases the price to $42,090.

With the High version, you get the munchies. Just kidding, it adds a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a spray-in bed liner.
