Sometimes SUVs live in the shadows of their closely related cousins. The Hyundai Palisade shares the same engine, platform, and tech as the Kia Telluride but never received the same amount of interest. Now the Palisade is borrowing more from the Telluride.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade is taking more vibes from the Kia Telluride

The Hyundai Palisade has a lot in common with the Kia Telluride. They ride on the same platform, use the same 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, and have similar tech and interior materials.

But despite being so similar, the Telluride has been more popular. If you thought it could be due to pricing, the Telluride is only about $500 less than the Palisade.

I have a feeling its because Americans are obsessed with boxy-shaped vehicles. The Telluride has a rugged up-right square design. The Palisade is a little sportier looking with aerodynamic curves and lower ground clearance.

Based on recent spy shots of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade, it’s adopting a similar boxy design. The SUV has only been caught while wearing tons of camouflage, but you can tell that the grille is squared off, the bumpers look more aggressive, and it has a lifted boxy shape.

If it’s anything like the new Santa Fe then it may sway away from its athletic attitude to be more rugged and capable of off-roading. Perhaps its towing capacity will be boosted from 5,000 to 5,500 lbs like the Telluride’s too.

However, we are going to see the new Palisade a few months before the next-generation Telluride launches. It’s safe to assume that but SUVs will continue to share components.

The big news is that the Palisade and Telluride have a hybrid engine on the way. It will debut with the Palisade first.

Rumors suggest that the 2025 Palisade will gain a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine and a new 3.5-liter V6 engine will replace the 3.8-liter unit.

The hybrid powertrain should crank out more juice than the Santa Fe Hybrid. It uses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to generate 232 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque.

Stay tuned for updates, the 2025 Hyundai Palisade could debut soon.
