The 2025 Lucid Air Pure Will Be the Most Efficient Car in the World
Electric vehicles (EVs) are getting more efficient every year. Hell, 10 years ago the best the Tesla Model S could muster was around 265 miles on a single charge. Today, Tesla asserts the Model S will manage about 402 miles. However, the Tesla is far from the greenest EV out there. Instead, the 2025 Lucid Air Pure managed to snag the title of the most efficient car in the world.
The 2025 Lucid Air Pure will cover five miles per kilowatt-hour (kWh), making it the most efficient car in the world says the California EV brand
The Lucid Air has been forcing popular luxury EV sedans like the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, and Mercedes-AMG EQS to stretch their legs for years now. When the Air first rolled out for the 2022 model year, the EPA-estimated range for the posh Air Grand Touring was up to an astonishing 520 miles.
Nothing came close. However, Lucid didn’t put its only luxury EV sedan to bed after the first model year. Now, in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) model’s fourth model year, the Air Grand Touring still promises over 500 miles of single-charge range. That said, it’s the 2025 Lucid Air Pure that secured bragging rights.
According to Electrek, Lucid Motors confirmed that the latest, updated Air Pure will cover as much as 5.0 miles per kWh. That figure makes it the most efficient car in the world. Stop it. I can hear you doing your best impression of Jeremy Clarkson from here.
In all seriousness, Lucid CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson confirmed the feat back in June. In a webcast at the Evercore ISI Global Clean Energy & Transitions Summit, Rawlinson asserted that one of the brand’s BEVs had achieved the five-mile-per-kWh benchmark. However, the press images confirmed that the culprit was none other than the rear-wheel drive (RWD) Lucid Air Pure.
Interestingly enough, the vehicle that Lucid asserts is “the most efficient vehicle ever made” has a much shorter range than the Grand Touring. Specifically, the Pure boasts about 420 miles to the Grand Touring’s estimated 512 miles. However, the smaller battery pack, lower weight, and a less thirsty RWD platform mean an efficient base Air for 2025.
