The Toyota GR Supra is back for the 2025 model with the same explosive B58 inline-six-cylinder engine. However, the Supra isn’t bringing back the same lineup that it had for the 2024 model; Toyota killed off the four-cylinder sports car offering. As a result, the 2025 Nissan Z will have a major leg up on the incoming GR Supra.

Fortunately, the GR Supra will return for 2025 with the same thrust-happy, BMW-sourced B58 3.0L inline-six-cylinder engine for the 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trims. Unfortunately, Toyota dropped the 2.0L four-cylinder base model from the 2025 model. As a result, the incoming 2025 Toyota GR Supra will be more expensive than ever, starting at around $57,345. 

Of course, fans of the nameplate will be happy to buy the BMW Z4 sibling for its performance credentials. After all, the coupe-only GR Supra 3.0 is one of the quickest sports cars under $60,000. Still, the Supra’s new base price takes it out of competition with the likes of the V8-powered Ford Mustang GT Premium.

However, the move also creates a cavernous price gap between the six-cylinder GR Supra and the incoming 2025 Nissan Z. The Z, arguably the closest comparable rival to the GR Supra, is likely to start at around $44,500 for the base-model Sport trim.

That means the 400 horsepower Nissan Z will undercut the upcoming GR Supra’s base price by well under $12,000. As a result, sports car buyers seeking petrol-powered thrills with 380 or more horsepower will have limited options.
