The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO Has an Obvious Clue in Its Name
We’re still in the process of saying goodbye to the Ram 1500 TRX. But we can take a break from grieving to decipher clues about the new Ram 1500 RHO. The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is coming to replace the TRX as a performance truck.
The is the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO?
The 225 Ram 1500 RHO is the new performance truck that’s coming to replace the beloved Ram 1500 TRX. But we don’t know much about the RHO aside from its name, which may include a clue.
The HO part of RHO could refer to High Output. This would like it to the new Hurrican Highouput engine option. It’s a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 510 hp and 540 lb-ft of torque.
The R part could be anything. Rhino, Rampage, Renegade, Racer, Rupert, etc. We’re still sniffing for more clues.
That’s a solid amount of power, but it’s not enough for a full-size super truck. The Ram 1500 TRX has the 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds.
But unfortunately, this engine is being discontinued. Each of the greats like the Dodge Durango Hellcat, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, and ICE Dodge Challenger are biting the dust.
The Hurrican engine seems to be Stellantis’s bread and butter and we’re wondering if it can be tuned up to rival the Ford F-150 Raptor.
With the Ford F-150 Raptor R, you get a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine with 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds.
Some rumors suggest that the RHO will be dialed back as a regular Ford F-150 Raptor rival instead. With the Raptor, you get a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.3 seconds.
This could mean that the Ram 1500 RHO will have Raptor prices instead of Raptor R prices. The Ram 1500 TRX starts at $96,340, the Raptor R rings in at $111,550, and the Raptor has an MSRP of $77,980.
The 2024 Ram 1500 starts at $39,420. So, it’s safe to expect some high price tags for performance-oriented trims.
Unfortunately, we have to wait to learn more. The 2024 Ram 1500 should arrive at dealerships by the end of February, so maybe the Ram 1500 RHO will debut in the early spring or summer.
