The 2023 Toyota GR Supra introduced the model’s first six-speed manual transmission option, much to the delight of diehard fans. However, the manual transmission option resided in the 3.0L six-cylinder option only. No stick for the four-cylinder platform. It forced Supra-with-a-stick fanatics to stretch their budgets further to get a rowable sports car. Well, the same is happening to the 2025 Toyota GR Supra in general: Toyota is killing off the 2.0L four-cylinder model and raising the model’s base price to around $57,345.

The departure of the four-cylinder engine from the 2025 Toyota GR Supra lineup means a base price increase of nearly $10,000

Toyota announced that the GR Supra lineup will drop the sub-$50,000 four-cylinder option for the 2025 model year. Fortunately, the 3.0L inline-six trims will survive for the latest model. Interestingly enough, the Supra’s convertible BMW counterpart, the Z4, retains the 2.0L four-cylinder mill in the sDrive30i for 2025.

Unfortunately, the omission means the only way to get into a new Toyota GR Supra for 2025 is to budge your budget to around $57,345. That marks an increase of around $9,810 over the 2024 GR Supra 2.0.

2025 ModelStarting price
GR Supra 3.0$57,345
GR Supra 3.0 Premium$60,495

Otherwise, the GR Supra remains largely the same for the 2025 model year. The 3.0 and 3.0 Premium models carry over the BMW-sourced 382-horsepower turbocharged 3.0L B58 inline six-cylinder engine. Additionally, the iconic sports car coupe offers an eight-speed automatic transmission.

However, the news isn’t all bad. The 2025 Toyota GR86 will charge on as the brand’s budget-friendly sports car option. The little coupe-only sports car started at around $30,395 for the base 2024 model. That puts it in direct competition with the comparably tame Mazda MX-5. Better yet, like the sun-soaked Miata, the GR86 offers a four-cylinder and six-speed manual transmission combination.
